I have a sister that used to write to ALOT of companies telling them she liked their products..(she kept track)..the Bic company sent her an ENTIRE case of Classic Stick blue pens, Ben and Jerry's sent her 52 coupons for free pints of ice cream (so she could try a different flavor every week)..she got tons of stuff like this everyday, she pretty much made a business out of it instead of going out and finding a real job. To me it was a huge waste of time. Now one time though, when one of my daughters was a kid, she bit into a Thomas's English Muffin and chomped down on a round piece of metal that was the size of a red pepper flake. She almost broke her tooth. I called the company just to let them know about it. They needed back the remainder of the package of muffins, the white tab that held the bag closed, and the store reciept where I bought them (I actually still had that). They sent an truck to my house with 30 packages of Thomas's(assorted brands)products, and enough no-expire coupons for english muffins that lasted me almost 3 years. LOL. I couldn't GIVE the darn things away!

a long time ago, when we were in Spain, but had come back tot he US for a 3month visit, me and my brother bought bicycles at SEARS, and shipped them back to Spain...

about a year after we had them, they both broke (one of the center bars' weld joint on mine broke.)

my mom wrote enough letters to Sears, that they refunded the full amount of both bikes to her.

***** I just noticed, this is post number 3030 :)

I wrote a complaint letter to GMAC one time 'cuz they sent me threatening letters to pay a bill that was only three weeks old. I had turned in a lease car with a cracked tail light, and they sent me a bill for $50 to fix it. No problem, but they didn't send me the address to submit payment. I called them, no one could give me an address, and a few days later I get a letter 'reminding' me that I have a payment due (still no address). I finally get the proper address the next week, and I get ANOTHER letter threatening to send me to collections - all within the space of three weeks.

I got a letter of aplolgy from one of the VPs, plus a Blockbuster gift certificate and two Coach (!) travel bags, plus they reimbursed me the cost of the bill. Sometimes it pays to complain, especially if you do it in writing and cc: everyone you can think of.

My dad complained once because his economy class seat lights didn't work. He went to business class and read a book. one of the flight attendants was rude to him about it.

when he got off of the plane in SF, he mentioned it to a Customer Service personnel.

A few weeks later, we got an apology from the VPs of United Airlines and some gifts.

I guess it pays to be a multi-million mile flyer.

i am preparing to write a letter of complaint myself. basically, kraft motorcar company, the local mercedes-benz and jeep dealership in my town, has had my car for 4 weeks as of this tuesday (8/6), and it was brought to them on a recall!!! being the gullible person i am i really did not make much of it. but my father on the other hand is friggin pissed. he calls them everyday and complains to the managers and he got me a loaner car from the dealership, but alas i am not yet 21 (2 months baby!) so their insurance wont cover me, so no loaner care for me. tomorrow when i am supposed to get my car back (hmmm, never heard this before) i am going to get the names and mailing addresses of both the service manager and general managers of the dealership. at which point i am going to write a letter of disapproval to both of them as well as a letter to chrysler. after all, this caused me to miss a family reunion, i wasnt able to visit my dad when he was sick, and i couldnt go see a special somebody when i wanted too! lets see what comes out of this! can you say good deal on a new e-class :P, well we all can wish.

yup... I wrote to dell once about my laptop computer being far from what the customer rep said it was going to be when I purchased it. I got a free DVD drive upgrade and a replacement of my 128MB sodimm for a 256 module. Pays to complain once in a while. I actually wrote a letter to Michael Dell to complain. Got a VP to call me back and settle the dispute.

When I was a young'un, I wrote to hostess to protest that my box of twinkies contained one fewer than the stated amount.

I got a personal phone call explaining how their automated machinery can sometimes make this mistake. A local hostess rep then personally delievered a few boxes of various hostess treats, and finally I got a coupon for a free box of twinkies in the mail.

This was like hitting the motherload for a 9 year old...

:D

i complain at any restaurant that gives me cold food or poor service. I have recieved 40.00's in food from applebees, so from outback, 15 from bob evans, a case of pepsi (i had a flat 8 pack), 3 free value meals at wendys & $15in gift certificates, 3 free mcflurries at mcdonalds and a free small fry.

Restaraunts often send you free stuff no matter whta your experience is. I have complained at arbys and red lobster, and never even recieved an email or letter of apology.

Let a company know the way you feel about your last experince with their store or product. They often give you something in return. They use this as a way to get feedback and improve. Its well worth a phone call or a letter.

Check out their website. restaurant chains often have a feedback or get in touch page. write them.

But how often do you get food with spit in it? :puke:

After seeing some of the cretins that work in food service, unless there is a SERIOUS problem with my food I won't complain. Too many horror stories...

you complain after you eat it. I never say anything at a restaurant. If the company send syou something, its normally a giftcertificate. They dont know if you complained or got it as a gift.
