$49.95 CDROM sku #381913 then add rubber bands or whatever to bring total over $50, then use $25 coupon. Then there's a $20 mail in rebate. Enjoy!

coupon code posted everywhere on the Net so don't ask what the code is. Open your eyes.

Well, I jumped on this without looking because I really don't care anymore. It appears that you can't use the Staples rebate if you used the $25 off $50 coupon. I'll still try it, but it looks like it's not going to work.

Oh well, I can always chuck it on eBay or use it in some machine.

Well, if you look at the rebate page for this item and read the FINE PRINT it says it cannot be combined with any other offer, promotion, or discount. I'm sure this counts as one of those.

I'll still submit it, but don't expect to see your $20 bucks.

Yep, another eBay item. eBay is cool when you get money for stuff you know is junk. Damn, I got $45 for a used WD 1.6GB Hard Drive with 6 months of warranty left. Double the cost and you got a 20GB! Of course a 20GB won't work on a low end Pentium, but stil...

Why would a "manufacturers" rebate be invalid because the "retailer" reduced the price?

I thought price control was illegal!

When I sell a product, I may give the retailer a "suggested" retail price. He sells it for whatever he chooses. You can go to jail for price fixing...

If the manufacturer/importer/distributor, or whoever offers a mail-in rebate, so what. As long as you comply with the terms of the rebate, they should pay.

Now, don't get me started on rebate fraud my the rebate centers. Keep copies of everything.

The rebate refers to "other offers" by the one issueing the rebate.

Send the rebate. It will work.

And by the way Colossus, don't be so tough on others in this forum. You make mistakes just like anyone else.

It just looked to me like the Rebate was being offered through Staples and not Memorex. I'll check again since I was dead tired when I looked. If it's a manufacturer's rebate it still may not work. The Epson 740 rebate, for example, precludes other promotions - at least that's what the Epson people said.

I'm hard because I see people who are blatantly violating rules and inciting people into flame wars. Silly threads keep popping up because people are compelled to have the last word. You'll note that all my posts in effect say "Chill" and stop posting on this topic unless it's about the success of the deal.

I'm surprised I'm even posting. I should be in class in 12 minutes! Yikes!
