A buddy of mine is looking to quite down his machine a bit so he can use it for audio capture/editing.

He wants to find the quitest case fan, CPU Fan, and power supply. He has a Athlon XP Socket A CPU and will need a 350W+ PSU.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

PS - Water cooling is NOT an option. Sorry Hapoo.

I read a real good article over at overclocker's about this....go check it out, I ordered the fans he used but haven't gotten them yet.

Vantec 80mm Stealth Fans are 27 CFM and 21.0 dBA.

for CPU fan, perhaps your buddy might want to go with a thermal controlled one so then noise only goes up when he is capturing video or generally taxing the CPU more. For PS, depends on your price range. ;)

The Enermax EG365P-VE(FCA) 365W power supply I just bought works very well. It has two fans: one that can be controlled via the motherboard (temperature) and the other can be controlled via a small dial in the back. It is much quieter and more reliable than my old POS 300W Taiwan Brand-X power supply.

Sorry, but 4 times is not accidental. What is a quite fan? :P

Bigger fans....
If you can, use larger fans that spin slower. I use a single Panaflow M-series 120mm fan as my intake and it is rated at only 28db but pushes 60cfm. I then use two 80mm fans (one in my PS and the other as an exhaust that both are rated at 35db and pull 25 each. the remaining air exits past my video card (my case is otherwise sealed). That's another thing...seal your case. Having no open holes for air and sound to escape will quiet your comp.

(Now...if MSI would just send me my replacement bus fan...)
