Don't know if this has been posted before.

I was scared to sleep with the closet or bathroom door open, and to this day I still have to have them closed in order to go to sleep.

Oh man, that's so me. I can't sleep with the closet door open. I don't even know why, I'm not afraid of anything coming out, I guess its just a habit. As a kid, though, I was always afraid of getting chased. I couldn't even play tag too well cuz it would make me nervous. And there's no reason for this fear either...

afraid of dark...

but i had a funny way of getting around it.
so, when you blink, you don't see anything - or it's "dark"
so i would close my eyes, then turn off the lights.
then, i could walk to my bed, and it'd be like my eyes are still closed...

shrug, was a kid.

yeah, when i was small i was afraid of the dark too. luckly i had this remote for my room lights so i'd just get in bed and try to fall asleep, when i i got really tired to the point that i didn't care about the dark i would turn off the lights.

roflmao, a normal spoon or one of those big wooden ones used for cooking? As a child my parents had the hardest time getting me to eat *looks at belly, guess i don't have that problem anymore :P* Anyway, the only thing they found that worked was waving a wooden spoon around me in a threatening fashion.

Whenever I started whining that I don't want to go to sleep my parents would threaten me that they will call the ambulance to take me to the hospital and I'd get so scared that I'd keep quiet in my bed until I did fall asleep. Sounds kinda cruel but it was effective :P

it was a flat spoon about 8 inches long i'd say. that wide end maybe about a good 2 inches. it sure covered a lot of area since i was a lot smaller back then. heheh.

Also afraid of the dark and I can't go to sleep when it's total darkness and total silence, also if I am completly alone in the house, I use *SO* much electricity at night cuz I leave all the lights on whenever I go room to room and also when I fall asleep....

i was most afraid of the basement in my apartment building... but that's where the ping-pong tables were, so i had to brave my fears to play...

besides that, i was also obsessed with the fear of death and the fact that the universe would end someday, and that no event would ever take place again. of course, there are holes in this theory, but i didn't know that at the time.

oh yes, and a fear of heights, which i still have. if you make one move towards me while near a high ledge, i swear i will knock you out. it's not even funny...

Tommy and Rob.

Giant bully, and his weasel sidekick. Perfect stereotypes, straight out of the movies. They used to wait for me after school, and stalk me on the way home. I took a different way home from school each day, trying to avoid them.

Finally, they caught me one day. (tough to run in snow pants). They were kind enough to let me choose which one I fought. Nice guys.

Got my butt kicked, but I gave him a bloody nose. Hurt him enough that they looked for easier prey after that.

My mother had a wooden spoon too-but she preferred to use her slippers..and if anyone knows what old italian lady slippers are like..you'll know what I mean..for those who don't know..they are leather open toed, thingamabobs with one inch heals..all the old italians had them..and my mother was particular dead aim with hers..she could whip it at your head and even if you ran to the other side of the room, it would follow you like a boomerang..
I was also afraid of being alone in the house, maybe because my dumb ass brothers would sneak around outside and scratch at the window screens while I was in there alone..scared the crap out of me. I was also afraid of the neighbors-they were just plain wierd.

Man, you hit the nail on the head with Freddy Kreuger, CornMonkey. We had Showtime in my house when I was little and I caught some of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies and became convinced that Freddy Kreuger was living under my bed. I had two blankets that I slept with, so whenever I dropped one on the floor between my bed and the wall, I would be terrified to pick it up in fear that Freddy would get me. Thank goodness he never showed up. He did show up in a dream that I remember to this day, but luckily he decided not to slash me.

I used to be afraid of spiders too, but then I moved into my basement and lived with about 587 spiders and got used to them. As long as they aren't big and hairy, they're ok with me.

I was scared of rollercoasters until I was about 12.

Weird, because it just took 1 time and the fear was completely gone.

Also, hated the dentist, doctor and bees.

1. Roaches....ick...still hate them

2. Needles....blah....still hate them

3. Watermelon seeds. Yes...that's right...watermelon seeds. (Not anymore though) My parents told me one time that if I swallowed a seed, a watermelon would start growing on the top of my head. Terrified me...:D

*looks down at stomach* Maybe one grew in my stomach....:hmm:

Almost forgot - my parents had this big wooden mask they got from somewhere exotic. That thing was big and scary (I'll have to take a picture). It hung at the end of our hallway right outside my bedroom. I had to stare at that thing every night when I was going to bed. Yeesh.
