I miss welfare :(

Happy Birthday, wherever you are. And for a present, I give you my 30th poem. I hope you like it.

***

Birthday

You may not be able to hear me
but I know you know I wish you the best

Wherever you may be

Another year has come and gone
and I hope you're the better for it

Meeting you was wonderous
Losing you is hard

My only wish is that you be happy

From me and mine
to you and yours

Happy Birthday

we'll have to keep this post up high on the first page until she acknowledges it. It can't take longer than a year... can it?

one day ;-) (thanks for the email alert, sbp)

just been busting my ass retyping my entire 400 page manuscript. i was paranoid enough to burn three separate cd copies of the word document and store them in three separate locations, as well as on the hard drive... and poopforbrains took the hard drive, which was fine, but then he got in to my place and got all three cd copies (i didnt change any of the hiding places because i never dreamed he'd do anything like that...) and then did some gloating about it.

but i had a printout, the one that i gave to positiverolemodel last summer to edit. so instead of making minor changes to a pre-typed draft, i'm retyping the entire friggin thing. thank god he didn't lose any of the pages, and thank god i'm in a new house with new locks.

so, if i'm at the computer, that's what i'm doing. i'm sending this book out to a publisher by halloween or someone's getting beat with a nerf crotch bat.

the house is good, the yard is good... already harvesting basil and oregano... will have a ton of pumpkins and watermelons and tomatoes and okra... damned bunnies got everything else... brewed a peach mead with the harvest from our peach tree, and a watermelon beer and a raspberry mead and a mixed berry mead...

evilgremlin has learned how to surf a piece of cardboard down the stairs and is under the delusion that he is a dinosaur. "not take a bath! i'm the dinosaur, raowrrr!"

here's a coupla photos from the wedding... prm and i got married june 13th.

Nice to have you back temporarily Welfare! Listen if you have a scanner, you can use a program like Omnipage or Irisis to scan the pages in, and send it to a word document. Works friggin awesome. There is a lady at my work who has like 500 pages that the Man wants all digital. She was all bummed because she had to start typing them in all manually. However I researched the software and we purchased a scanner for her, and now she is scanning these documents in and doing copy/paste to put them in a web document. The cool thing is the software recognizes tables as well so it can identify the data inside the tables as text, and not just an image.

If you are just scanning all text, it should be a breeze. Just an idea.

Nice pics by the way.

Nice to see you again. That sucks about the manuscript. Look into getting a scanner. You can get a decent one for $100 and it should save you quite a bit of time. If I still had mine I would send it to you. My thesis was only 70 pages and I don't think I could have retyped it if I had to. Congrats on the wedding BTW.
