So I got my hands on the pre-release demo of UT2003 (http://www.unrealtournament2003.com) - it is amazing!

I only played with it for a few minutes so far, but the graphics are great. I could only play in a window - I need to find out if I can switch to full screen in the demo - but it's a lot nicer than UT.

The graphics are a little different - looks a lot like the jump from Quake II to Quake III. Everything is rounder, and there's much more detail.

Looks like there's built in support for voice, which is cool, and the single player version (with bots) is more advanced. Right up front, you can assign tasks to each bot - offense, defense or roamer.

I'll have to spend some more time with it, but I think we have another winner on our hands. I'll DEFINITELY pre order this one.

My two cents. I don't really like UT or Quake because it's really too fast. All it is is to run around like mad, shooting. Counterstrike is my FPS since it requires a lot of strategy.

I'm not saying the game is bad though, I'll probably get it. But that's my reason of why I'm not getting worked up for UT2003 or Doom3.

I am looking forward to the games that will use both engines. If the engine is as good as you say it is, then hot damn!

I agree that Quake3 is a LOT of running around & killing. It's good for short games that you want to pop in and out of. It's fun for a while, but you're not going to spend all day on Q3.

UT (IMHO) takes a lot more coordination & team planning, so it's good for some longer matches. Return to Wolfenstein is similar - lots of team play, which is fun. Games like this really need to have a full team also - like 8-10 people per team - to get a good match going.

I'm looking forward to the new features in the game like voice support, and new games ('Bombing Run', whatever that is) and of course the updated graphics.
