hey everyone, i just got a new machien from work and it comes with xp home, the OS ostensibly built for monkeys.

Anyway, i'm having problems getting my java environment to work. Apparently in the past few months java JDK has been done away with, and now Sun puts out j2re. got it and installed it. Problem is, i want to write in J2ee. So, i downloaded j2sdkee and Apache Tomcat server. Tomcat works fine! Then i try to install an IDE.

Has anyone ever used Netbeans? It used to be one of the best .... Argh. It complains that i dont have a java virtual machine. I have everything under the sun (get it, sun?. sorry) ! win2k and XP never complained about this stuff before! Does anyone know what i need to download to get this to work?

PS: i cant wipe the OS for another month, legal mumbo jumbo from work, i have to go to the office to use their site license
