Feel free to post here regarding albums you bought only to find the entire album sucks except for the 1 song you heard on the radio.

Let me get the ball rolling with the new Trick Daddy cd, Thug holiday. The radio song is great but the rest are assy. When are rappers going to realize that people want songs on the cds that will be played in a club. People dont want to hear slow, depressing sounding rap music, they want fast rap with a dance feeling. Trick Daddy should have noticed that his last album sold a lot because it had like 6 songs that were radio qualility.

Five for Fighting.... America Town...really awful except for Superman

Don Henley... Inside Job... Maybe two decent songs total

Babyface..... Love Songs.... I don't recall liking any of the songs

I have a very eclectic taste in music. I'll listen to Brahms then Trick Daddy, then Yellow Card, then AK1200. I like anything that sounds good, as long as it pleases my ear I'll listen to it.

Okay, I went to half.com looking for a Commodores Greatest hits CD (there were a few songs I wanted in my collection). I lOVE old school.

I ordered "Commodores Hits Vol.II" cause it had all the songs I wanted for $5.99 (I had a coupon and was ordering some other cd's otherwise I would have just gone to Tower).

Anyhow, when I recieved the CD I realized that it wasn't Lionel Ritchie singing, it was some dude named J.D. and it was a "cover" album (which wasn't specified at half.com). :banghead:

Sux!

I hate Creed. That is music that sucks.

Sorry, I've been wanting to say that ever since the radio stations here started cramming it down my throat and this seemed like the perfect place.

I feel better.

The only thing I hate more than poor people pretending to be rich is poor people pretending to be rich. I hate how Creed, Nickleback, Pearl Jam etc are all rich guys but they talk, act and dress as if they were Joe Average. Its just as fake as the Bling Bling style rappers who rent the nice cars for their videos.

Thats just lack of class.
I also happen to think creed sucks.

rap and hip hop is good music, but rarely are there any good albums. usually, albums are chock full of skits and other filler material, that its not worth plunking down the 16.99 for the CD.

the most recent cd that i bought is the new Linkin Park remix cd. even though its old songs recycled, they do a very good job of making it new and original (its also more hiphop oriented). Very good CD, i recommend it :thumb:

What's even worse is when you hear the song, "Soil - Breaking Me Down" in the trailer and its not even ON the damned Soundtrack CD.

No, I didn't buy the CD, but still. What the hell?

This is for Triple X by the way.

yeah, that's unfortunate. but then again, i have to confess i think a lot of what i would say is "popular" in rap nowadays is complete garbage, most recently people like ja rule, clipse, fabolous, nelly, ludacris, etc.

i mean, i do concede that, if you're looking for something to bump in the clubs like cantacuzene said, those guys will do, but personally i'm not satisfied with just a bangin beat. not to mention, some of the recent songs don't even have THAT goin for them (ie the clipse song "grindin" - what the hell is that mess? neptunes or not, i coulda made that beat in two minutes with some buckets and a casio keyboard).

it's just too bad that when mainstream america thinks about rap, the aforementioned are who come to mind. and i can say this, because i've been listening to rap since the sugar hill gang, whodini, run dmc, and grandmaster flash were just gettin started.

bah! i'm sorry. this topic always gets me irked... :)

oh, i almost forgot to answer the thread's initial inquiry...

most recent albums i bought on whims:

1. "Denials, Delusions, and Decisions" - Jaguar Wright... it sucked HARD.
2. "Fear of Fours" - Lamb... also quite high on the wackass-o-meter

I dunno... I actually like them both... however too much in either direction is bound to piss SOMEBODY off.

Too much booty in the pants!!!

I agree with DF, being a FLoridian too I am attracted to the Miami/Atlanta bass style. Magic Mike, DJ Smurf and 2 Live Crew are/were great. If I want to hear a rap with a message some of my favs are ScarFace, Chuck D and even some NWA. Its all about the mood and place you're in. At the club or in the car, gimme a great beat and do something original with your voice, when I'm chilling after a hard day, gimme something to think about.

Another album that sucked which I was conned into buying recently...

Slammin Shaun- Freestyle Funk (its an 80's techno remix cd. Really didnt live up to what I expected. Maybe my expectations were too high, but my disapointment was great.)

I don't always need a "message" in my music (although that's cool as well...) if I'm rollin' down the street in the NAS-T Bird, poundin' the pavement with my speakers... I want somethin' with some slammin' beats playin'. Something that gets the ladies booties shakin' :D

no, i agree... you need to have some of that kinda music sometimes. i just mean it's a shame that this is the only kind of rap mainstream america knows. but you're right, you can't really please everyone. plus, there's a lot of thoughtful rap music set to some bangin music too...
