Superglue problem (no I did not glue myself to myself). Please help.

Hey, does anyone know how to remove crazy glue (polyacrylate ester) from plastic? Basically, I have this pencil that has great sentimental value to me. Anyways, so it broke (a piece of plastic broke off the top near where the lead comes out). :neartears So... I had this great idea to superglue it back on. Anyways, long story short, I was able to glue it back on fine, but got some glue smeared onto the rest of the pencil. I tried to chip it off, but unfortunately without success. I'm a little apprehensive about using organic solvents to remove it because the pencil is just made of cheap plastic and is colored. If possible, I'd prefer not to smudge the color of the pencil. Has anyone ever been in this problem and if so, how were you able to solve it. Please help. Thanks. :)

Seriously, though, if it has that much sentimental value to you, I'd just leave the glue smudges on there. You'll probably just ruin it more by trying to take it off. Besides, the smudges give it character... ya know... kind of like war wounds.

Actually, I winded up giving up and using an organic solvent. I went and got that wall paper remover stuff (can't remember what it's called... bip or pib or something like that), soaked it into a sponge and just kept rubbing away at it until it came off. Took me an hour, but my pencil is fixed. :thumb:
