i have a ton of music videos that are in mpeg format and are quite large. how can i compress them to be smaller? is there a program i can use??

Open them in windos movie maker, if you have XP. When you save the video it converts it to .wmv which is the same quality but half the size.
Or use adobe premier to convert it to some divx format or even a more compressed mpeg.

i6s1: those sites are for dvd ripping....these are movies of like music videos...but thank you
edit: tried a diff approach with windows movie

I prefer divx over wmv, but the choice is yours...
Divx is far better the wmv. DVDs are mpegs too, so converting your mpegs to divx is the same as converting DVDs to mpegs, except you don't have to rip the DVD.
Here's the short version:
Download the Radium MP3 codec, a divx codec, and virtualdub.
Open the movie in virtualdub.
Select "full proccessing mode" for audio and video. Select the divx codec for the video, and mp3 for audio.
Save the AVI.

thanks guys...appreciate it...i got it to work now :) now these damn videos are taking up 100 megs each
