Bug fixes mainly. People have reported the pops and cracks from before disappearing.

After I installed, I lost my surround mixer and then the software couldn't find an audigy...irritating. I'm going reinstall the January drivers.

tried it, and it said couldn't execute the setup.exe file.. maybe cuz i changed the destination.. i guess i should just try the default compaq directory.. :hmm:

There is no uninstall option! Since I installed it, my programs didnt work, so I tried to uninstall it...no dice. attempting an install with the driver CD and patch cause wrong drivers to install and the patch will fail.

May or may not happen. Creative isnt so big on free software.

The biggest knock about Creative is their lack of support.

As Cantacuzene said, Creative stopped offering the software for downloads. Basically they want you to pay for the cd that has the new drivers and software upgrades on it. Another thing they do is requiring you to have the original cd when you do update the drivers.

Creative did put up new Live driver just over a month ago.

Expect new Audigy drivers at some point shortly.

Bah! I'm through with Creative Labs until they hire real programmers. Besides, I am predicting that the games of the future will eventually migrate towards Dolby Digital instead of EAX.

These actually are creatives drivers. Just remove the oem.inf file.

I tend to agree. MOHAA and Neverwinter Nights sound wicked cool with Dolby.

I'm with you on that! I tried uninstalling them and loading the old drivers and couldn't even boot into XP after that. During the loadup I got BSOD's and couldn't even get back into Windows. Reformat was the only solution.

LPMiller Thursday news:
RipNet tries to install a Creative Audigy Installation on Windows XP Pro without a hammer
"Personally, I don't think it can be done. Why Creative makes great hardware but crap drivers and software - which you have to jump through hoops to get - is beyond me. Ripnet had to do a bit of reg hacking to get their Audigy to work. Me, I had to find the one PCI slot that worked. Maybe this will help you. Maybe buying a Phillips or Turtle Beach sound card would help you more, though. RIPNET (http://www.ripnet-uk.com/RipNet_v2/guides/sbaudigy.shtml)"

ripnet certainly had a pleasant experience with the Audigy. :o

One thing to note, I've seen plenty of driver problems with the Philips sound cards at various forums. Santa Cruz on the other hand, not that much.

hehe just picked up Santa Cruz for $41.80 shipped.

Popular download...Creative uses a que system for its downloads...need a mirror site.

heh thats why you use the Asian server. :heh:

I got the Santa Cruz today. Damn buy.com does a crappy job of shipping crap. Box was beat up and shipping tape coming off.

Anyways the Santa Cruz box and stuff looked okay.

Well after doing testing I would say Santa Cruz is a nice soundcard. One thing that really stands out is its control panel. And its Win2000/XP drivers are solid.

Audigy is better in games with certain games being more noticable. Thats not to say the Santa Cruz is bad in games.

Sound quality wise, both are about equal.

Both soundcards are good and can be safely recommended. And the Audigy and Santa Cruz are better and an upgrade {somewhat} from the SBLive. However to go to one from the other is a sideways move.

[Like Frankenstein] New Drivers, GUUD! [/Like Frankenstein]

I installed them this weekend and they sound fine and good. Never had any problems with the Audigy, so I don't know what problems they may have fixed.
