I've had the same problem myself and I've tried tons of things, none of which ever worked. I'd really like to find out a solution, so if you find one, please post it.

with direct connect put it in passive mode...for aim i have the same problem but with msn no problem...wierd very wierd
I think AIM uses a really strange port that you have to open on your Router. I havn't tried because I honestly don't care. If someone wants me to see something, they can email me. :)
However, it does work with Trillian. If the other person is using AIM and you (me) are using Trillian, it seems to go through fine. Same with vice versa.

I believe under the AIM preferences under File Transfer and File Sharing, you can tell it which port to use. Then all you need to do is forward that port to your LAN IP in your router configuration.

yup, thats the way i have it.. but if the other party is behind a firewall/router too, even if that person has their settings correct, it doesn't work. I believe this will only let you send things to people without a firewall/router.
I never knew about the Trillian or MSN thing, I guess I should try that :) Thanks!

I'm beginning to think the file transfer block for people on routers on AIM is a security thing for idiots with cable modems to protect them from 1337 hax0rz.

i heard that aim uses some strange protocols and stuff and that mite be why there's a problem for file transfer. i knmo many companies dont allow aim cuz its a security hazard but allow msn
