To Harbey:
Sorry, man, but joker.com asks for EURO 12.00 PER YEAR not for $12.00 per year. Big difference!
1 EUR ~ 0.9235 USD ~ 2 DM

Generally, don't pay more than 15.00 per year for basic registration. www.dotster.com (http://www.dotster.com) seems to work well, and if you want to register 50 or more names, www.opensrs.org (http://www.opensrs.org) is a good place (10.00 per year, but you have to pre-pay 500.00, and do a LOT of testing).
A lot of people swear by www.ghandi.com (http://www.ghandi.com) (or is it .net?) for complete privacy and full ownership of the domain name.
My overall opinion (I've registered more than 300 names) is that for a one shot deal, or a small number of registrations, Dotster seems to be the best deal.
Have fun!

Anyone know of a good place with good price/service on domain name registration?
(for business/commercial) I've heard that network solutions has the worst service among companies out there.
Thanks in advanced.

Try dotster.com. Only $15/year. I haven't tried yet, but sounds like a deal to me.

I've used DirectNic.com. Also $15.00 per year, free parking and referrer to wherever you like. So far, no problems.

i'll tell you what service not to use... bootbox.net... it's been over a month and a half and i have still not heard from them. the deal was that if you registered a domain name through bootbox.net with register.com, bootbox would give you free web hosting. well, i registered the domain just fine, but i haven't heard a word from bootbox. even the hotline.

Have you seen www.tv? (http://www.tv?) I've mixed feelings about this...cool domain names are available (I snagged gnutella.tv) but they go for $100 for the first year and it's an add'l 5% per year compounded. The real good domain names (sex.tv) are being auctioned for up to a million bucks.
I find it hard not to get caught up in the land rush mentality. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/wink.gif

If you want to transfer your domain to the OpenSRS system and extend its life by one year, you can do so for $9 US at www.msquaredweb.net (http://www.msquaredweb.net) ... promo ends soon. This only applies if your domain is currently w/ NSI or any other registrar, other than OpenSRS....

If you want a great deal, and you need Web Hosting, then try Yahoo! Web Hosting. They charge, $14.95/Month (which includes Frontpage extensions, 100 megs...) and as long as you are with Yahoo! they pay the Domain Name Registration fees. So for $14.95/Month plus a $25 Setup Fee, you get Web Hosting and a Free Domain Name. Not a bad deal if you are looking for both a Domain Name and Web Hosting Services. I am very happy with their service. And customer service and very fast, email usually within a day.

I'm using www.domainmongo.com (http://www.domainmongo.com) for $17/year. It's cool.
Recommended.
