Anybody know of any good deals on wireless lan hardware? I want to set up a network in my house, but it would be a huge pain to string cable all over the place. If you have any suggestions, let me know.

I was looking for such a thing a few weeks
ago, and I checked out Intel's site where they had some info about their new version of the wireless networking products.

You might want to start look there, as for deals on those products, I have no idea, since I have not been actively looking to buy them.

Good luck searching.

Well I was hoping to find some deal I did not know but I can offer some aid.

Circuit City has Intel anyPoint USB and PC Card for 249 less 50 rebate, they are good, but I don't think Intel has released Win 2k Drivers yet. Diamond home Free for about 130 but there are problems with it, the more expensive ones are good too like Prxim symphony and there is also the 3com or nortel stuff. the intel is a good price and actually avaialable..... Let me know of any better deals

FWIW, my dad uses the Intel Anypoint USB and it works wonderfully.

My local Sam's Club (Plattsburgh, NY) has the Diamond Wireless Phoneline set for $26.99. It includes 2 PCI cards, the speed of the network is 1 Mbps. They reviewed them over at Firing Squad (http://www.firingsquad.com) a while ago. I use these at home, one Win 98 box & a Win 2000 box, works great for games, but large files take a few minutes to transfer.

I'd probably buy this one:

Or go up a few links a see all the wireless networking kits on cnet. Not bad reviews and a good place to start.

Well, good luck finding one. I searched all over the place for one of these last month, and every place in the universe was backordered. It appears that WebGear is fasing out this product to push their AviatorPro line, which is more expensive. Unless things have changed in the past month, eBay may be the only way to get one of these...
