I was considering buying one of the RCA 27" TVs from Mercata, that Apex posted to the deals page. I wanted to see how the TV performed before buying one blindly online. So, I called around and found one at REX, an electronics store here in Yakima, WA. I asked the guy how much and he said it was on sale for $329, but they'd match any price. Well, I made some printouts from the gotapex deals page and Mercata's webpage and took them in. When the sales guy came and asked me if he could help me, I told him I'd talked to a guy on the phone about a pricematch, so he went and got Carlos, who I had talked with. I showed him the printouts and he took them to his manager and now I'm watching my brand new RCA 27" picture in picture TV that I paid $287 for. They said that most places only match local prices, but they had no problem doing this match. So, if you're thinking about buying the TV, or missed the time slot Mercata was selling in, you might want to try calling around to see if anywhere will match Mercata's price. It worked for me :-)

Do you like the TV? It looked nice, and I've been meaning to get one with an S-vid in for awhile now.

It's pretty nice. It's more compact than my last TV, a Zenith 25". However, this one is 85lbs, and man it's really akward to move around. It's a really nice picture, but the sound isn't that great. Maybe I just haven't gotten all the settings right yet. It's got more options than you'd believe. I still haven't figured out how to use the Guide+ option, it's a built-in tv guide. I don't understand how it works, and I'm not the type that reads manuals. I may have to break down and get it out though.

My parents have had their 25" console RCA for 30 years and it still works great. If this one breaks on me, it gives me another excuse to buy the newest and best model out there. The price was right, so I don't care if it doesn't last me forever. I don't really plan on keeping it forever.

I visit Yakima, WA all the time (just across the mountains for me) and I think the main reason that Rex accepted the price-match is that, when I've been in there (a few times), it doesn't look like they were doing much business (ie. I was the only one in the store with 4 sales people bugging me). Good job on the price match. I hope you treated yourself to a nice Old Country Buffet dinner (right next door to Rex).
