Listen to this:
"Names can only be registered in Germany if they fulfill certain criteria. A name must clearly identify the child's gender and must not ridicule the child or be offensive."
Wow, not a whole lot of freedom in Germany, huh?
Now, I think kids should have "normal" names, but I would defend your right to give your kid a stupid name.
For example, a friend just named his brand new baby girl "Jain" (sounds like "Jane"). I guess it somehow fulfils the parents desire to be "different"...

if a parent wants to be different, let them do it on their own time, maybe somewhere down the line a kid will realize they have a screwed up name and dont wanna be so "different", leading to fights and such and if its bad enough a kid will get his/her name changed anyway. Parents have every right to do what they want and be unique, but at the expense of a child, i think a line needs to be drawn

I have a simple solution. Shoot both of the parents in the head, and name the kid after one of the firefighters who died trying to save the victims.
