ok, so i get the idea of spam. spam is bad. mojo no like spam.
i also get the idea of "for sale/trade." i have something for sale...i post it here and it's posted as "for sale." people can look at the thread and decide if they want to by the item or not. or they can respond to the thread and ask questions or whatever.
here's the part i don't get:
why is a link to ebay considered in the same class as spam?
i can see how it could be if the individual is doing a bulk sale or a dutch auction or something. but if someone just has one item for sale and wishes to also post the link to the listing on ebay, what's the big deal? it's still one item for sale in either case. there are no commissions to be made in the case of an ebay listing...in fact there is less to be made as an individual, as there is the listing fee as well as a percentage to be paid to ebay.
in either case, the seller is making money on the sale. there is actually no more money to be maid if auction links are posted here, except in certain situations. there is actually less money made from said "self promotion" by listing it on ebay and listing it here, as a sale through ebay takes the percentage as mentioned above.
maybe someone can help me with this puzzle? it almost doesnt really matter now, as i've sold most of my stuff that i needed to lose through ebay. i'm just curious really as to the set-up.
