Sorry guys, just wanted to post a new topic since whenever I try replying in an already active topic I got ignored http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/frown.gif ...

I'm out to get a cell, so I was reading up on old posts here, and pretty much came to the conclusion that Sprint's the way to go (correct me if i'm wrong...). Anyone in the jersey area know if there are any deals going on? Any details of their (or other companies) promotions? Thanks in advance...

At least post to the correct forum....
i think OT is a bit more appropriate.
I looking for phone service myself. still looking though but sprint seems to be best. Nextel is good if you can afford it.

Well I was looking for a DEAL...and since the forum name is GotDeals?, well...need I say more? Anyway you knew what it was by reading the topic name, so you didn't have to waste a precious mouseclick if you didn't want to, since you knew what you were gonna end up reading.

In any case, yeah, I think i'm gonna end up going with Sprint since everyone talks so highly of it.

Civic,

I was one of Sprint's first customers in the Northeast and there have been both pluses and minuses.

Pluses:
Living on both sides of the US, I travel a lot and also make a lot of long distance calls. My plan suits me fine, $50 / 500 anytime long distance minutes, plus I put an extra $10 for 200 off-peak long distance minutes (which I think is a steal, since most of my calls are made off-peak anyways). I heard that if you sign up for one-year service, you might be able to get it for even cheaper. Sprint's home rate usa also allows me to receive calls in different areas without extra charges (ie no roaming).

Minuses:
their service has gone from great in the beginning (helpful salespeople, generous compensation for lost airtime, good phone trade-in deals) to absolutely horrible. Truly a case of a company that may have over-expanded. Also, Sprint isn't as big in the West Coast and I find a lot of spotty regions in LA / Beverly Hills. Another minus would be having to pay for the phone out-of-pocket, instead of free, although a lot of rebates are available if you time it right. Try Radio Shack for phones, I think if you sign up for their official "Radio Shack geek" card, you can get an extra some % off. Sprint also has web messaging and the rest available, but I never have found the need to use it.

Hope this helps!!

Hey, thanks for the help, didn't think anyone would respond http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif .. well, $50/month is a bit too steep for me, unless it was for two phones http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/frown.gif ... and radio shack..well...let's just say I wanna get a nokia so I can make it look cooler (dunno if radio shack sells nokia's, haven't gone there in a while).

I keep on mentioning this, but I guess you guys have missed it. Point.com is a website that lists just about every popular cell phone plan in the country. It even has coverage maps and everything. Even if you don't buy from them, it serves as a really good reference.
