Stun guns...

Does anybody have one of these and know that they actually work? Any comments about them, I just want one just to be having it, but would like to know if it will live up to its name.

Stun gun or taser?

Stun Gun: Not really a gun. A handheld device powered by a 9-volt with two metal stubs at the end. You need to actually press the stun gun against someone's body.

Taser: Shoots out two needles that stick to a person. The needles have wires still connected to the taser that the current goes through. You can only use a cartridge once and then you need to load a new one. Not cheap.



A stun gun isn't that expensive. About fifty bucks. A taser is pricey. You will need to plunk down over 500 bucks for that. You're better off with a Glock.

I'm just asking if they are very effective. As far as getting a glock, I believe I am well equipped...I have a MAK-90, tech 9, .22 Rifle, a .45, and a pee shooter 25

A good taser (the type the police use) will cause involuntary convulsion of your muscles. You will drop down into a fetal position no matter how "mentally prepared" you are or how high your tolerance for pain. So yes, a taser is very effective.

A stun gun can have a similar effect, but in many cases, may just make your assailant more pissed off.

Neither will have any long-term physical effects, however it has been suggested that a jolt from a taser or stun gun to a pregnant woman may cause miscarriage.

I used to have 2 of them (stun guns). I never had to use them. I actually don't know where they are.

The lady I got them from did though. She was at the mall at night and this guy approached her as she was getting in her car. She told him to stand back and he came up to her anyway and got zapped. She said all she knew was that when she jumped in her car and drove off, he was on the floor but didn't know what happened to him (nor cared) cause she was gone.

You just reminded me of the time I was out with some friends at the barefoot bar in Mission Beach, and one of them was hitting on this chick. My friend has a habit of being a bit cocky and arrogant and was being crass towards her. She told him to back away the fock away. He said, "What are you gonna do, yell at me". She says, No, and proceeds to take out a stun gun and set it off. My friend goes, What the Fock and started to back up. He turns to me and said, that crazy biatch was about to focking use a stun gun on me for hitting on her, what the fock.

At this point she came towards us with the stun gun out and still discharging, but a smile on her face, and said, what you dont want to hit on me anymore? My friend goes, well I would but your little friend sparky over there is kind of giving me the willies. She said, what this (points to the stun gun), what do you have to worry about.

At this point I walked away because I didnt want to see what was going to happen. As I said, my friend is cocky and arrogant, and was a bit drunk, so I was afraid I was going to have to pick him up from the floor of the bar.

About 30 minutes later I was leaving the bar and I saw my friend and the girl making out in the corner, which I couldnt believe after the stun gun threat...but hey what ever works.
