Horray for Florida!!!

The new state slogan is "Florida. where your vote might count."

My favorite part of the story is where they say they spent 100 million dollars (Dr. Evil in charge?) and follow it later by saying that some of the machines were not "warmed up" in time. The machines are supposed to be computers. What's all this warming up business?

I also think I read on slashdot (http://www.slashot.org) that the machines would not be promised to work by the manufacturer if they were opened to be examined. "We promise it works, but we won't tell you how..." Sounds fishy/stupid to me.

I try to let my computer warm up before using it too much. Especially in the winter. :P

A few Maryland counties used touch-screen computers as its new voting machines too. A nice system...when it works.

Here in Montgomery County there were major problems. The way its supposed to work is you stick a memory card into the computer and used a touch-screen to say what your choices were. Well the hippie election official programmed my memory card to be a Democratic ballot. So I took it back and he redid it. Going back to voting then the machine spit out the card! Finally a second election official got me another card and the few choices that could be made, were made. In this district there were no Republican candidates for Maryland's Senate and House of Delegates.
