so i leave for college a week from today [9/14]. lately, my parents have been on edge and all. i do something or want to and they get all offended by it. like my mom got mad at me for not stopping the car on train tracks when the arm thingys were going down and didnt like the fact that i wanted to take them somewhere for dinner the last nite im here. is anyone else experiencing thing problem or has? or is it just me?
jeez...7 more days and im in irvine.

hehe
I watched my mom go through it with me, my younger brother AND younger sister. ;) It's a parental thing. :)

Yeah, hard to imagine she could be so upset when you had a chance to cement your place in history as a Darwin award winner! :P

It's the "Empty Nest Syndrome" or "Smaller Nest Syndrome". My Mom went through it when I left for school and then my brother left a month later for the marines. She got through it, but she was apparently talking to their dogs more often for a little while. ;)

[The Grandoise Speech written between drinks] Dear glagic: You are entering a time of life where you will work hard, meet new people and experience new things. When it is over you will look fondly back at these good times. Now go now and make us proud young man. And oh yeah your parents are having anxiety at you leaving the nest.

where are you from? my parents didn't really do much. i was the last one to leave for college in my family. oldest went to a school 30 minutes away, the 2nd went to school on the other side of the country and i'm about 5 hours away. *shrug* they don't make a big fuss anymore. but it's nice going home. i get money and food and laundry done and my parents take me out to eat. :D

:stupid: I'd be kind of upset if someone did that while I was in the car too. I don't feel like being crushed by a few thousand tons of rolling steel.

Yay. UCI! GO ANTEATERS! And... It's the University of Civics and Integras. Here's an interesting figure: One in four people you meet at UCI is an Asian girl. Go figure.... Considering the school is 65% Asian.

I'm sure you'll spend time at Irvine Spectrum. Check out the "Yardhouse" there. They have the most beers on tap out of any restaurant (www.yardhouse.com). But since you aren't of legal drinking age (I'm assuming), they have some really killer nachos. If you like bowling and laser tag, you can always hit up Palace Park. Um... Yeah. I used to go to Irvine on a weekly basis from Northridge.

I've been to the Yardhouse in Long Beach, it IS very good. Get the wasabi mashed potatoes...yum!
And yeah, post some good eating places in O.C. I don't go there much, but would like to know of a few good places for when I do get down there. :)

zagat.com is always a good bet. Sometimes it's a popularity vote, but overall pretty reliable. It's the online arm of zagat survey
