When I graduated from high school, my aunt and uncle and grandparents gave me a money lei... It was soo very special and I wanted to keep it forever. But College times gets rough and I'm running out of money, and so the separation begins... :(

How about ebaying it before you rip it apart. It may be worth a try, though I don't know the legalities of effectively selling money.

You can't find a part-time on campus job? There's got to one. Departments sometimes post job openings for office assistants and the like. Even computer labs should have some need. I recommend the smaller computer labs. Maybe there's a nearby office or restaurant you can part-time at also.

Sure you can sell money. Collectors do it all the time.

You just got out of high school and are over $10,000 in debt??!! I'm sure you love your parents, but I think you got some bad advice. Go to the library and get a copy of the book "Financial Peace".

DON'T DO IT MAN! DON'T DO IT!
that thing is really cool....maybe take a five here and there - but really limit yourself in how much you take off....
don't do it so that it's noticably smaller....keep it in tact.

hehe, I wish the whole thing's made out of 5's... The thing is $155 total so most of them are just $1's. Anyway, I thought about selling it on ebay but I figure people would only buy that around graduation time. I mean who's going to go search for "money lei" in September? And I do have a job, I work in the library along with Hang10 (16 hrs/week) which brings about $450/month. But right now I still owe my parents $200 for car repair, cell, and part of the dsl (I pay half), a friend for a CPU upgrade, and I have to pay for car insurance which is like $500. I only have like a total of $300 right now... :(
Anyone want to invest in sho.gun corp? $10/share (cheap) contact me :D

Oh well I tried. Time to start selling those kidneys and a lung. :P
The other alternative is your school newspaper will advertise these sessions where you become a guinea pig for someone. Some are one shot deals like bring in your twin or sibling so they can take a blood/DNA/personality test. Some are like "Donate your sperm..$$$/visit". I met one girl who particapated in this long term test where they would give you some kind of virus/bateria/germ/etc every month and she had to keep a log of what she did, how she was feeling etc. Next month a new thing. It's like that Seinfeld episode where Kramer pretends he gets gonorrhea and gets pigeonholed. Anyway she got paid really well and she doesn't know if she got the real thing or the placebo. Suffice to say, I didn't hang out with her that much and avoided skin to skin contact. :P

Doesn't the school offer an emergency loan or something? That's helped me during some financial fiascos.
The fees are very reasonable -- or nonexistent -- if you pay them back in time. :)

Give your parents the money lei for the car repairs and when you have enough money, buy it back from them. That way, at least you don't have to destroy it. Seems like such a waste...
