View Full Version : Battlefield 1942 Issues?

Does anyone who have played this game find that it takes a monster system to run well?
I have a Athlon 1400+, Geforce 4 TI4400, 512Mb PC2100 RAM and the game slows down on me a hell of a lot. I didn't have all the graphic settings up and I'm running on 1200x800 (or whatever the exact numbers are). Still the game will slow to a crawl after a couple of minutes. Does anyone have this problem?

My friend has been playing the demo on his system, and he just sent me a copy. I haven't tried it yet, but his is working fine. He was having issues when he was running it on an 800 MHz at first, but he upgraded to an XP 2000 with the same videocard (64 meg Radeon) and has had no problems/slowdowns.

I love 1942, in fact I upgraded my computer simply to run it better. I could run it on my P3 500 w/ geforce3 ti500 but to actually play I had to turn off sound, so I upgraded to an XP 1900+.
My best advice is go to options and select 'Disable Sound'. Then you'll probably see great performance boosts. Otherwise I would advise upgrade your system. It's just so damn cheap now that it's worth doing.

Hmm, well I went back and played the demo. It is fine on my 750 MHz Duron w/ 64 meg Radeon.

hmm...well...does anyone have a problem with the fonts? I can barely read them. With the demo it was like that before I updated my drivers....hmm...one sec...

I have a very similar setup to you, and I'm not having any problems with it at all. You might be suffering from the SafeDisc protection on the disk, which can slow down performance on some systems. I'd suggest hanging till a no CD patch is created - that might help. Also, you might want to check to see what you have antialiasing set at, and vsync.

well in the beta/demo the fonts sucked, but in the actual game the fonts are fine
Now only if the players on your team could actually play instead of teamkilling each other :|
