Hey, anybody know of any place in the LA area that does prescription Oakies or some other decent looking brand. Until I get that damned laser surgery I need these lame prescription thingies.

Or, does anybody know of any place that sells the frames only and I can get the lenses done myself.

Looking to spend under $150 for the frames and $225 for the frames and lenses. Lenses need UV, scratch, and all that good stuff if possible.

Thanks in advance.

Ooooh...until you said the range...I could have helped. I have been wearing my prescrip Oakies for almost a year(and love them). Unfortunately, you will almost undoutably not find anything in that range. Oakie frames are very thin(and angular) which is part of the reason why they claim their lenses help focus light better(while still being impervious). You have to buy their special prescription frames(which I think were like $250-$300). then you have to buy the lenses(for like another $100) from Oakies. I happened to know a special lab, that was willing to experiment(to try and get that strange shape). Most labs won;t touch them. SO overall cost was like $350, I think(plus I was able to have a mirror coat put on frame that Oakleys don't offer).

I live in Louisiana and couldn't find anyone around here to do it. I finally broke down and started wearing contacts so I could wear some oakleys.

I use to play golf with my oakleys and no contacts or glasses. you can imagine how many balls i lost.

good luck!

Try: http://www.foreyes.com

I've been using them for years, cheap and good. Check the coupons page.

Thanks for the tips. I'm willing to pay up to $300 if I have to. My eyes are something I don't screw around with.

I went to the Oakley site and it says all their frames suppport prescription lenses. It says they have special frames made for opthamalogic purposes. I need regular nearsighted lenses, not bifocals or reading glasses or anything. Only thing is I'm into the 5.0 range.

I was thinking about something like this: http://www.oakley.com/cda/3.0/0,1676,49-MA-1-9-12-1659,00.html

I'll check out the foreyes sight though. I think Lenscrafters doesn't do Oakleys. Sunglass hut does have them, but I don't know how much for new frames and prescription.

But thanks again for the info. Tell me what you think of the shades in the above link. I plan to use them as driving glasses as well, so should I get the black polarized ones as well? The Stealth ones also look nice.

If they end up costing too much I'll just get some cheap Diesel or Guess ones.
