If you're tired of pop up ads... use this program

http://www.opera.com/download/

a friend of mine swears by it

Or as an alternative, try Mozilla, which will also block popup ads.

Neither of them offer true pop ad blocking.
They just disable the popup window javascript command.

I don't get it. These are just different browsers that stop pop-ups? Or are they like pop-up killer, pop-up stopper, etc? I downloaded Opera last week and they blantantly display an add at the top. Although it's not a pop-up ad, it takes up real estate.

Is there a good pop-up killer for Interner and say...I-Mesh? I probably shouldn't use I-Mesh and use Kazaa lite instead I know. I-Mesh has so much ad-ware and Pop-up Stopper doesn't help with I-Mesh at all.

Opera is a shareware browser. The free version of it requires ads when using it. If you buy Opera, you'll get a version that doesn't have the ads.

These browsers, along with Konqueror, and a few others will allow you to selectively disable the javascript commands that are usually used to open popup ads. It's nice to surf when your browser can't open unrequested windows, or move or resize windows, or raise or lower them... Those ads that pop full screen maxmized are extremely annoying.

Some browsers, like Konqueror, even let you enable or disable those commands based on the URL, so you can leave popups enabled for sites where they're useful, and disable them for sites where they're not.

Mozilla has a plugin available that will block banner ads on many sites. It's not 100% effective, but it does get a majority of them.

Some of the alternatives to IE are pretty good now...
