blizzard's site is so very slow because of everyone trying to get a peek at this new starcraft game. Unfortunately no, it's not SC 2 :( but it'll be based on the Starcraft universe.

Experience story-driven missions complete with multiple plot twists
Play a crucial role in the rich StarCraft history
Engage in combat with a variety of fully rendered units from the StarCraft universe, including the Terran, Zerg, and Protoss
Q: Is this StarCraft II?
A: No.
Q: Will there be a StarCraft II? When?
A: Although we have not made any announcements and do not have a development or release timeline, we do fully intend to revisit the world of StarCraft on PC at some point in the future.
Q: Why is Blizzard Entertainment® entering the console arena?
A: We began our early development efforts in console gaming, and we have always been excited about returning to this arena. Additionally, we've wanted to revisit the StarCraft universe for some time. With StarCraft: Ghost, we are able to do both. Also, due to the game's control interface and tactical-action nature, developing this title for the next-generation console systems makes the most sense. In addition to expanding StarCraft's rich storyline, the game gives players a chance to experience the sci-fi universe from an all-new perspective.
Q: Does Blizzard plan to develop any other console games?
A: While we have not made any announcements, we are considering future console development plans.
Q: What is the relationship between Blizzard and Nihilistic Software, Inc.™?
A: Blizzard and Nihilistic are co-developing StarCraft: Ghost.
Q: Why did Blizzard choose Nihilistic as a development partner?
A: Nihilistic Software, Inc. is made up of a talented group of developers. We chose them because they share our vision and focus in developing games. Their team members have worked on several great titles, and we are very pleased to be expanding the StarCraft universe with them.
Q: What is the relationship between Blizzard Entertainment and Capcom?
A: Blizzard and Capcom are co-publishing StarCraft: Ghost in Japan.
Q: Why did Blizzard choose Capcom as a publishing partner in Japan?
A: Blizzard has a longstanding relationship with Capcom. We chose them as our publishing partner because we have a great deal of respect for the company and their products.
Q: When will StarCraft: Ghost be released?
A: We expect to ship StarCraft: Ghost in late 2003.
Q: What rating do you expect for StarCraft: Ghost?
A: We expect StarCraft: Ghost to receive a Teen rating from the ESRB.
Q: On what platforms will StarCraft: Ghost be available?
A: We are currently developing the game for multiple console systems. Further details regarding platform/country specifics will be released in the months ahead.
Q: Will there be a PC and Mac version?
A: No. StarCraft: Ghost is only being developed for console systems.
Q: How many copies of StarCraft have been sold?
A: To date, the StarCraft franchise has shipped over 6 million copies

Thanks Sho.gun for posting the FAQ. I couldn't get through the site.
Does anyone else think of C&C Renegade when you read through the FAQ?

they need it to go on pc, it'll take forever for any consol to load that many graphics -_-"
and plus, i agree, this is the sad day that blizzard sold its soul...i shall no longer purchase any blizzard games...until it reinstates a sense of security in my little world ... nvm that didnt make sense

Here are some more (20 or so) screens from StarCraft Ghost
http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=5892
Yes it does sound pretty good ... and Blizzard really knows their stuff so it wont disappoint ...
I do wonder about that next-gen platforms .. a lot of companies include PC into the next-gen as well .. i guess we'll know more in the next few days when the Blizzard people will be available for comment (they are all in Tokyo for a game conference).
Now back to playing NOLF2 :)

I just pray starcraft 2 is good. I know I will play this name no matter what.
Any blizzard game is a good game, just I would rather have a World of Starcraft than a World of Warcraft..wouldnt you? Getting siege tanks, controlling battlecruisers, carriers, being a zergling and anoying the crap out of someone...

All the kiddie consoles gamers are happy. http://home.earthlink.net/~sbp777/pics/bleh.gif
So Nihilistic Software (http://www.Nihilistic.com) are the co-developers. They are the guys who did the underappreciated Vampire: The Masquerade.
Hopefully it'll be better than C&C Renegade turned out.

<neo>whoa</neo>
I worked on that game, as a tester :D They are great developers.
I was reading Penny Arcade (http://www.penny-arcade.com) today and this is what one of the guys who runs the site said:
Wow, the response to Starcraft: Ghost has been pretty insane. I took some time this morning and visited a few message boards just to get a feel for what people thought of Blizzards latest title. It seems that an overwhelming number of you guys are pretty pissed off. I have seen links to no less than three different petitions asking Blizzard to make a PC version with robust online support. I can understand how all you PC gamers might be upset over Blizzards announcement but I for one couldn't be happier. If you have any questions about why I might be uninterested in a PC version of Ghost Just take a look at this quote from one of the many angry threads out there on this subject:
"if you honestly think 1 game is going to increase console sales you're an idiot. i'm not going to buy a console under any circumstance. if they came out with the game on pc i would've bought it, but oh well. hopefully they'll make up for the loss by becoming a 10 minute fad for teenage console kiddies."
Oh if only Ghost was a PC title with multiplayer support, then I could play it with this ****ing winner. You want to know what the worst part about Blizzards past games has been? PC gamers. That's right, it's you petition signing sons of bitches that have ruined every other Blizzard game I have ever played. The thought of enjoying a well designed and masterfully produced Blizzard creation on my favorite console is just shy of erotic. No whiny bitches complaining about a huntress rush. No junior high school kids using hacks to kick my ass while calling me a n00b. No, just me and my console of choice playing through a well thought out single player campaign set in the thrilling Starcraft universe. I'll go a step further and say I hope that Blizzard decides not to include online support for their console versions. If I want to play a tactical shooter on a console while someone relates a wild tale of sexual debauchery with my mother, I'll play SOCOM. If Blizzard simply must include some kind of multiplayer experience I hope they limit it to a split screen mode. At least that way I can choose the *******s I want to play with from my own stable of friends.
-Gabe out
And I would have to say that I totally agree. I hate this little kiddies talking smack while they "hack" there way through the game, thinking they are good. It pisses me off, that's why I don't do online gaming. I've gone on some Q3 servers, and all I see are "gg" I can live with that, but then I've gone on others, where like half the people are chatting "Hey, I was typing don't kill me!" grrr
Battle.net OMG is horrible, I used to be on it when Diablo came out, and it was ok, the spam was a little much but I waded through it, now the games are all about who knows how to cheat the best. Let's not use any sort of stratgey *gag*
Guess what? Those little numskulls also play consoles. So either way they are going to play this game while leaving us mature pc gamers out in the cold. Whatever. Blizzard just lost moola then.

Yeah... they play the consoles... but you don't have to listen to them bitch/whine while playing. That's like tantamount for me outside of directly connected game stuff (plotline, graphics, sound etc. etc.) it seriously ruins a lot of games for me.

Well, the point is this: there should be a choice. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that there is some sort of major kickback from M$ to keep Blizzard from developing a PC version. Xbox has crap for games, and if I were going to invest $200 in a gaming system, Xbox would be the last on my list. This is probably just some shenanigan to try and boost Xbox sales.

my reasons for getting a gamecube:
mario sunshine
super smash bro melee
metroid
starwars rogue leader

Starcraft: Ghost

I can't see myself purchasing the xbox. It doesn't have any sort of good library of games, and I don't want to have to worry about extremely good ventalation.
The cube, isn't exactly me, but I can see me purchasing it before I get and Xbox. I mean that Mario Sunshine games looks nice, visually. and I'm sure that there are some other games out there that I would like, I just haven't looked. Now my Ps2 is just fine for now. It has a nice library of games, it's backwards compatible (SYPHON FILTER!!!!!) and I already own it :D
I like blizzard games. A lot. If I did own an xbox, I would definatly get Ghost, but it is no reason for me to purchase one. Yes it looks stunning. But hell, for all I know that could be the freaking movies. What I've seen of the xbox's preformance in say Target or BB isn't all that wonderful. But I'm still mad that this game won't come out for PC. I'm also thankful it doesn't because then I would purchase it, and thus be disappointed by those damn kiddies...

porting..*shudder*
I'm not a big fan of porting games from console to pc or vice versa. too many legacy problems, imo.
console to console  that's different..

Looks good. It looks like a 1st person shooter or maybe a 3rd person one...in any case, we all know that those types of games play best on a PC than a console. I think they will eventually make it for the PC so I wouldn't worry about it.

Lame, it's only for consoles... you'd think blizzard would learn that their games work best for just PCs.
