So I have this here laptop for the past year or so and I always run it at 1600x1200 cause that' what i usually run all my desktops at but i've been wanting to play Warcraft3 on this bad boy and if I set the resolution of Warcraft to 1024x768 the image only covers about 3/4 of the screen. There is a lot of black around it. Is this just the way the LCD on the laptop is built where the resolution HAS TO be 1600x1200? It happens if I change the resolution down to 1024x768 in the Display Properties too, it won't fill the screen. Is there any way to fix this or am I SOL? Warcraft3 doesn't run too great at 1600x1200 on a laptop with a geforce2go

Some LCDs will just drop the size of the displayed image, leaving a black border around the outside, which is what yours appears to be doing.

The alternative is to take the lower resolution and scale it up to fill the full display. The problem is, this usually looks like crap when it's done.

I periodically have to set up flat panel displays for people... and it never ceases to amaze me that they'll order a nice 18" LCD, and then run it at 800x600. It looks gorgeous at the correct resolution, but when 800x600 is scaled up, it just looks awful.

Best bet if you really want to play, is pick up a cheapo 15" CRT monitor, and hook that up. Then you'll be able to play at 1024x768 without it looking too small or like trash...

True...but the whole point of the laptop is for it to be mobile while a 15" CRT is not ;)

Yeah, but think of what kind of shape you could be in if you carried a 15" CRT with you everywhere!

Thanks for the value-added comments man...

The laptop is avoiding interpolation by shrinking the viewable image down to keep the crispness of the picture. If you want your image to be fuzzy, you can hit FN-F7 to get it full screen. To me, it looks like crap, but not to everybody. Since I upgraded to the GF4go I use 1600x1200 in every game. The Radeon 9000 for laptops should be coming out in a month or so, the 8100's might be able to be upgraded.
