What do you mean by hella cheap?

In my book, hella cheap is virtually free -- soooo ridiculously cheap that it is hella cheap.

well, im not sure you can get a 32' tv for virtually nothing. as it happens though, im in the market for a 32'-36' tv as well. just checked the local bestbuy, and its between a 36' toshiba, or a 32' sony flat screen. i know the flat screens are nice, but the 36' is bigger and cheaper.
back to your cheap issue. a few things to check out are your local electronics stores, for open box and/or floor model tvs.
also, there might be a refurbished electronic company store near you. i live in baltimore, and up in reading, pa there is a sony refurbished store which im going to check out this weekend.
good luck to you, and if you find a great price, drop me a line!

By hella cheap I mean less than $500. Umdfox I will keep my eyes open for you as well.

Good god, will you people please post cost info? I mean it comes out eventually, but like umdfox, maybe you ARE onto a good deal, put it up so we can take a look at comment. Maybe we CAN do better, but I'm sure as hell not going to look around if I don't know how much I'm looking FOR.

yeah "HELLA" is Northern Californian lingo. I thought it was lame when I first moved here. I still think it's quite funny whenever I hear it from my friends.

I think this is a pretty good deal for a 32" tv look for Hitachi 32UX58B Color TV here. Price is $493.95, don't know about shipping though.
Sorry I tried to link the exact page but it gave me an error

Ok heres some actual INFO: I bought a 32" last year and looked all over locally and checked out Consumer Reports for brands and repair history, etc. Here is what I found out from all of this, DONT get a GE, Zenith or an RCA, they are very bad when it comes to breaking down. You should look at Sony, JVC, Toshiba or in my case the
I went to probably 10 different stores including Sam's Club, Walmart, Ultimate Electronics, Circuit City and others. I eventually found a Phillips Magnavox. This TV is supposed to be very good in the reliability department. Anyway, I went all over and couldn't find it for less than $500 or so, but then went to SUPER TARGET of all places in a last, desperate attempt to find something cheap. I found a "last years model" on the floor that had been marked down to $400 or $425 I believe, and told the sales guy I'd take it. Then when he goes to find the box he says he had one more in stock and sets me up with one that hadn't been opened. I got the thing home and opened it up and found it was the current year's model, which sells for $550! I got it for $425 so I called the store (ok my wife made me tell them I got the wrong model) and they said that often when new ones are coming out they'll put the newer models in the older boxes to fill the last few orders, so it was all legit.
Anyway, I highly recommend the Phillips Magnavox, the Sound on it is much better than any other 32" I found and the picture quality is also supurb. Try getting a floor model or something like that, they have the same warrantee but come cheap. I'm very happy with mine, especially with my DVD player/receiver and newly purchased Surround Sound System! Best of luck!!

Lucky you sphiatt, congrats on a great find. Now, if this contact at Sony will just come through, I might be able to hook a few peeps up with WEGA's...will keep you posted.

No offense....but anybody who uses the ord "hella" doesn't deserve to receive anything, much less a cheap TV
07-20-2000, 04:04 PM
Hey quest I respect everyones opinion and in my opinion anyone who spells the "word" without the "w" is either retarded or doesn't have a good grasp on the English language. Either way they shouldn't make such hasty comments about those who are just trying to hella express themselves!

Uh, you can cool off now. Hella is a pretty stupid term...he was joking. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif
07-20-2000, 05:45 PM
I thought only people from N Cal used the word "hella".
07-20-2000, 10:28 PM
Thanks for the advice Pennypinch. And I was joking too. Why don't you quit being so bitter before you get a hella heart attack! Hella hella hella!!!
07-21-2000, 12:49 AM
hella is suck! http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
07-21-2000, 12:52 AM
Okay...Sorry about that last post being very off topic.
For more on topic content: I want to know if anybody has found a good deal on Panasonic's Super Flat 32" TV's. I really want one of these, but it seems that I can't find one for less than $600. Can anybody help me?

Ok.. beat THIS! Tonight I walked into Wards to look around. I found a 36" RCA Home Entertainment Series, twin-PIP TV for $579.88!!! It had been returned, and there is a spot on the side that has a bit of white paint on it, where someone ran into a wall with it. Regular price on this was $1000. I'm happy. :-)
07-21-2000, 02:06 AM
Yeah, RCA has come to be one of the cheapest and most unreliable electronics distrib around. I wouldnt be too excited. I am sure you will find out why they returned it soon enough. Dont take this as an attack though, I am just speaking through my own experience, and those of my friends as well. :^)

That's the in I have too. I'm going to see if I can get a few and sell them to some Apexers...
07-21-2000, 11:23 AM
If you found a 32" at 600.00 then that is a DAMN good deal. The superflats are Panasonics rival to the WEGA, and by all means well worth the price. 32" Superflat at 600.00. How could you pass that offer up? I payed 598 after s/h using my GCs at Amazon for the stinking 27", but oh well, Well worth it for Superflat.
07-21-2000, 02:13 PM
Pennypinch and any others with contacts... if you CAN get one of those bad boys for 40% off let me know... I can always put my 32" in my room as the smaller second tv in the house LOL.
I've heard several other "hella" lame people saying hella... my favorite has to be Cartman on Southpark. Did any of you ever see that episode where he's saying everything is hella lame and hella cool and all that?
Now its even worse... when I was living in the Bay Area a couple of years ago you'd have the "hella" speak everywhere but then I'd go to church and hear "hecka" as well. Now that I'm back in Utah there are a bunch of NoCal wannabies that are just hecka lame and go off with their toned down version of hella. Now thats hecka funny right there!
07-21-2000, 02:17 PM
I've also heard the hecka thing...makes me want to put a ruler through their mouth and out the back of their neck...
i hate poeple who are too offended by the word hella to say it, and replace it with hecka. that's so f*cking retarded. and i dont understand why people outside california are so against those words anyway. they have been around since i was in grade school, you'd think that hella would be accepted in more spots around the country by now, although i do try hella hard not to say it anymore. doh! it sounds stupid coming from an adult, huh?
07-21-2000, 06:42 PM
I second the notion of Sonys being passed on to Apexers. If you can get one, post it up or something (whatever's fair), and even if you decide to eBay it, which is probably the fairest way to go, just let us know, okay? Thanks. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/wink.gif
07-21-2000, 07:27 PM
No, I'll only post it here. While, yeah, I could make money, I mean, it's not really in the spirit of this board. I don't need the money that badly, and I'd rather hook up another Apexer...at least the highest bidding one. But a smaller audience should guarantee a lower price for the winning bid.
