everquest boots me cause of router

I have a cable modem and a BEFSR41 linksys router.... and when i play everquest.. i get booted about every 20 minutes... i have redone drivers and firmwares but i am wondering if there is anything i can do besides unplugging my roomates and the router...

hehe what is the DMZ? the demilitarized zone? i thought they demilitarized the internet.. oh wait, no they demilitarized space... hmm but if you think about it... everything in the air is space... so no one can shoot a bullit or missile or anything without breaking international law... hmm did i just solve world peace? oh well its slurpee time,

i looked up what you were saying... sorry to post twice.. ummm you mean have my computer before the router? the problem is there is only one out of the modem before the router, and you can't put a hub there because it wont have the right set up would it? could you go cable modem => hub => my computer
=> router

or does it have to be

cable modem => router => hub

I used to play EverQuest. Listen to Darkfury. What he is saying will fix your problem.

I had the same problem with both a D-link and a Linksys router..

Basically, what I had to do is what they are saying.. DMZ your specific IP address when you are going to play EQ and remove the DMZ when not playing.. Everquest uses too many damn ports and it would take an act of god to actually get them to divulge all of the ports they are using.. Unless you got a port sniffing program running while playing the game and.. la la la la.. ok.. not going too far into it.. Just DMZ your computer before and un DMZ after

and unless you want to be like me?? Just say NO!!!!!

P.S. What's really weird is that I used to NEVER go link dead using that router.. Then a friend came over, brought his computer, hooked up to the router with me and we were playing.. Then we went LD every 10 - 20 minutes.. We did DL a few new patches for the game as well, but then ever sine then, even with his computer not hooked up, I'd still go LD unless I set my IP for DMZ.. Strange.. Wonder if the lovely staff of EQ screwed something up, or it was my friend's computer.. if it was his computer ruining it for all of you EQ players, then I'll gladly give out his address for the proper ass whooping!!!

grr...everquest...i never did like that game. took WAY too long to level up for me :( hated it

Sorry for late post but...EQ? That was like 20 years ago. If anything play DAoC till Shadowbane, EQ2, and AC2 come out...don't spend money on EQ when you have to buy all the expansions just to get good items. DAoC is alot more balanced also, better world, character, pvp. Trust me, I used to be a Evercrack addict :P
