Sound card question kids.
I currently am using a set of Logitech Z-560's on my rig am I am plenty pleased with them. The only draw-back of course is it isn't quite a 5.1 set up. Does anyone know of a sound card the card replicate 5.1 out of 4.1 speakers? By that I mean it would split the center signal between the left and right speakers.
Many thanks.

That's exactly right.

what kind of sound card and os are you using and what are you using it for? the only reason you need a 5.1 setup is for dvd and playing ac-3 files.

I've got a SB Live! X-Gamer (non 5.1). I works great for gaming, but I use my PC for dvd watching as well. I'm just tring to get the best sound possible without have to buy a 5.1 set up.

Just a side note. The difference between a 4.1 and 5.1 setup is negligible depending on the sound stage. If you are in a small area then a need for a center channel is quite useless. But if you're setting up something in a large room or theater, then more channels will be needed. However if the two front speakers are less than a few feet apart you really won't notice a difference between a 5.1 and 4.1 setup. The two front channels put together close enough setup a good enough pseudo center that is indistinguishable to a real center. This is of course under the assumption the speakers are setup correctly.
