did you enjoy it or did it taste like sole of shoe?
a friend let me puff on a chocolate flavored stogy, and it wasn't bad.
has anyone ever tried a flavored one?

I dip into the old humidor about once every two to three months or so. Ah a cigar and martini makes for a nice relaxing evening. I've like them pretty much from the get go. As for flavored ones, I do like them. Especially the vinella and congnac dipped ones. I used to really like a brand called "La Diva" nice lite flavor but can't seem to find them anymore.

I don't smoke the flavored cigars, but I do enjoy an occasional cigar. I would say my favorite is the Monte Cristo. I'm also a big fan of Romeo y Julietas and Macanudos. Keep in mind that Dominican cigars are not just cheaper versions of Cubans' They essentially just borrow the name and the cigars are worlds apart.

I would say my favorites are Macanudos. I also like Partagas, H Upmann, Romeo y Julietas, and Montecristo. I've had several Cubans and although they were excellent, I don't consider them that much better than those from Jamaica or the Dominican Republic. I wouldn't turn one down, though ;).
/me opens his humidor and peers at the Havana Montecristo just waiting for a special occasion...

Never. Pretty disgusting if you ask me. It's amazing how many people do, though (especially in my line of work).

I like the smell of a cohiba before it is smoked...like in a cigar shop. But when its being smoked, it makes me sick. But so does cigarette smell since I've stopped smoking myself (8 years :D ). Blech!

I find that the quality on the Dominicans are actually higher than the Cubans. Quality control is poor (sometimes I get damn near a hernia trying to draw on a Cuban) and I think they more or less trade off their reputation rather than their poduct, whereas the Dominicans have learned how to make a damn fine smoke.

I would have to agree and disagree on that statement. yes, some of the Cubans are of poorer quality than Dominicans. However, it DOES depend on what country these Cubans were exported to. Many European countries get higher quality (i.e. Spain) than what is available in certain South American countries or Canada. The Cubans I brought back from Switzerland and Italy were of utmost high quality. The Cubans I brought back from Canada were on par with the Dominicans I have smoked.

I love cigars, never smoked anything but. I don't think I could ever smoke a cigerette. I haven't really smoked in a while, like 3 or 4 months because it's not something you do everyday. More like social smoking. My fav cheap brand would be Monte Cristo, thats pretty much the cheapest I smoke though I have had some excellent ones under $10. I just don't remember what they were.

Smoking of any kind makes me ill. http://smilies.uniquehardware.co.uk/cwm/3dlil/puke.gif
My wife is asthmatic so we try to stay far away from it, and no one smokes anything in my domocile or my car.

Yeah I smoke them rarely. I bought a pack of Swisher Sweets when i was moving out west and I've smoked a few other brands that I can't remember because sometimes a cigar was handed to me just for the hell of it. ;)
I don't know if I could without hurling. I grew up with both parents smoking constantly but something about the smell of cigars just turns my stomach. Maybe I've only been around cheap brands or something.

Uhh... You think Monte is a cheap brand? I've seen cigars for 4 for $1. I think THAT'S cheap. If I buy any Dominican Monte singles, they'll be at least $12 a stick. But then... We have this damn 66% tobacco tax in California. If I mail order a box of 25 from Boston, it'll cost me $125. If I buy the same box here, it'll cost me around $200.

Sometimes I have a hard time keeping them lit. The larger ones atleast. But the small Swisher Sweets stay lit just fine. Man I'm remembering how strong those cigars were compared to a ciggarette...

M isnt saying that montecristos are cheap, they are the cheapest he regularly smokes. dont know why, there are good smokes under 10 bucks. i dont think those are dominican, they dont have any identification on them except they come in a metal tube with a red cap. he says that he gets them for about $12 locally

We always bring Swisher Sweets when we go camping..(to keep the bugs away)..I'll usually end up with one sooner or later...Usually after a few beers when I'm loosing money in the card game.
