Freeweb died today. Maybe yesterday, I'm not sure. (Stealing from "The Stranger") Does anybody know of other ISPs that offer a connection without requiring any sort of special software? I would be much obliged. (No way in heck im using juno)

Two free ISP's that do not use a banner are WWW.1NOL.COM (http://WWW.1NOL.COM) and WWW.FREEATLAST.COM. (http://WWW.FREEATLAST.COM.) 1NOL does have a dialer that opens IE to their home page and FREEATLAST has a program that sits in your SYSTRAY but I don't know what it does.

Anyone know if either of these offers POP mail?

1NOL does offer POP3 mail. You could also get free POP3 mail and news group service from WWW.MAILOPS.COM. (http://WWW.MAILOPS.COM.)

I've found a lot of ISPs that you can get rid of the banners. The one I am using now is from FreeDSL. Email me for details.

I used to use Altavista (before I got a high-speed line). There's an easy way to kill the banners just as it connects. I stayed online for hours with no problems and I had quick speed.
Apparently Altavista is the largest free ISP, for what thats worth.
You do need to use their software for the initial dial-up.

This is crazy. I've watched each one of my free email accounts from different companies in turn get taken over by juno. They're like a damn parasite gobbling up new customers and moving on to the next free service.
