I am about to start working at best buy, and was wondering if anyone knew what the discount was. I heard it was cost + 5%. If that is the case how much of a savings is that usually, or what is cost on a few items like a nice stereo, a bigscreen, etc. one final question: is there a limit to how much stuff you can buy? I realize these are questions for the manager but the store doesnt open for a week and i cant wait.
thanks

I know a guy who works at Best Buy.
There is a limit on what you can buy, especially on the high-end audio stuff (something like one purchase every two years, and you have to prove somehow that it's just for yourself).
I think they keep an eye on employee purchases to make sure you aren't selling the store out the back door. So I'd tell my friends to calm down if I were you. :)
I think the discount varies based on what you're buying.
As long as you're going to be working for the guy, it seems to me you should be able to call your boss and say, "Hey, I was just thinking.. what kind of employee discount will I get?" Don't be shy about asking about a benefit the company *wants* to give you!
Good luck at the new job!
