Hello,
A friend brought over his Fujitsu C-Series Lifebook hoping I could help him out. He had someone reformat the hard drive and install Windows 2000. Unfortunately they didn't install the soundcard drivers (my best guess) and he has no sound. I went to Toshiba's web site and was unable to find the drivers for this model. Any suggestions on solutions? These are the numbers from the laptop.
Product No: FPC04019A
Part No:CP031882
Reg No: C-5230

Did you reset the CMOS or do anything in BIOS? This is just a possibility, but if the computer has built in sound, just make sure it is activated.
Otherwise, I don't know where you'd go for the drivers.

Duh, sorry about that. Actually went to the Fujitsu site. Brain fart. I don't know if they reset the bios or cmos during reinstallation, he just dropped it off hoping I could fix it. Wasn't able to fill me in on too much and had no disks or manuals. I believe it has built in sound so how exactly would you make sure it is activated? Thanks for the help.

well download the right drivers for that particular model.....
extract it and run it....
if its just the drivers only then you will need to go into the device manager, look for the device with the !, then manually install the driver that you have extracted.... hope that helps.....
u can get to device manager by right click on My Computer >> click Properties >> clic Hardware tab >> there u go....

The only problem is that there are no drivers available on the site for the C-5230 and windows 2000. In fact, it doesn't even list that model exactly. It has C-5235 instead, but says there are no drivers available. I was going to experiment with some of the other drivers, but thought I should check with the experts here at G|A first. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

hey have you try letting W2K update it?
I mean by clicking START, then select Windows Update. Try that and see if windows pick it up, usually the lazy way that I do it.
If not then better start searching for it....
does the sound card even shows up in devce manager????

Thanks for looking nhbilly. I am going to try the windows updates and see if that works. I think it will and I can't believe I didn't think of that earlier.

If that doesn't work, see if you can find out from Fijitsu's site what kind of audio card it is... many laptop mfrs use pretty common parts, so it should be pretty easy to find drivers if you know what kind of card it is.
