A few years ago when I was still living in LA I was cruising around trying to find a computer store where I could buy some upgrades I needed. I eventually found a place, but it turned out that they were exclusively a Mac store. I turned to walk out and the guy at the counter asks me if I need any help.
I told him I was looking for PC parts and I was obviously in the wrong place.
Of course he groans and hands me some Apple stickers.
"Here.", he says, "Put these on your PC. Maybe it'll run faster."
I respond, "Yeah, but then it'll only run a third of my software."
BOO YAH! :laugh2:

Typical mac user...no sense of syntax.
"Put these on your PC. Maybe ****it'll**** run faster."
"Yeah, but then ****it'll**** only run a third of my software."
Clearly, the "it" refered to by the impotent mac sales wuss was Null's PC. So, in using the same accusative, Null would be referring to his PC, not the stickers. :bonk:

but that's still stupid!
The stickers have nothing to do with how your system will run...you could have just said "They'll make my PC look like crap" and achieve the same effect.
You effectively said that the stickers will make your PC lose compatability.

I'm a PC and a Mac user, and I thought that was pretty funny. :D
However, one could add the following: Maybe it can only run 1/3 of the software, but at least you'd be able to do what you want with that software (http://www.siliconvalley.com/mld/siliconvalley/4193833.htm). :)

Which makes sense.
The guy was saying that the stickers would make his comp faster by turning it more like an Apple....and Cantacuzene said that if it's more like an Apple then it would only run a 1/3 of the programs.
How hard is that to understand?

but not being able to run 15 different zip programs, 30 different mp3 players, 20 different mp3 rippers, 12 different solitaire games, and another 20 ftp clients really isnt a big thing. Sure apple has 1/3 less software, but look at the software making up the other 2/3rds. What really matters is that the apps you use are available for that platform. In the case for most people, it is. Personally, I dont need winxip, winrar, winace, powerzip, stuffit, and whatever when winrar does the job. On my mac, stuff it does the job.
Everyone seems to use the same basic apps, a web browser, an email client, an office suite, and a few other small odds and ends. Most main apps are cross platform. The # of mac games is the only real difference.
People seem to love the fact that there are more available PC applications than mac apps. This is true, but in the mac world, users dont need several apps to do 1 task. The apps available go above and beyond the call of duty.
just my 2 cents

I just want to say that with more choices on hardware and software, prices are much cheaper to buy PC parts than Mac. When it comes down to $$$, PC is better buy! :D

i can argue differently, but i dont feel like gaving the great mac vs pc debate, and most other members of this board will probably be thankful for that :D

Ribitch, I'm a gamer, a hardware head, and competition sparks innovation.
You may not need 20 different MP3 players, but I'd rather have 20 to choose from than 2.
Plus, I loath any company that starts a computer sales pitch by asking me what color I want. Oh, I'm sorry "Flavor".
Macs simply are not for me. And I'm sure that holds true for a lot of people.

I'm so confused as to why this became a debate. By the way... I'm thinking of getting a MAC this time.
Nah.. changed my mind.

I would use Mac if I felt like it and wouldnt feel any need to justify using it. Good stuff, too expensive and will end up using pentium chips one day... Flame on!

did any of yall ever see the kiddies that mac had pushing the iMac when it first came out? At the time, I worked for Canon selling printers. Mostly, I went to retail stores in my state and just hung out on the printer isle and got people to buy Canon rather than HP or Lex or whatever.
Anyway, for like 4 or 5 months when the iMac came out they had 16 and 17 year olds selling for them. It was tooooo funny. Their whole sales picth was, "PC Sucks. Buy a Mac. You can get whatever color you want. And you won't have to mess with those old floppy drives"
I thought it was pretty funny.

I Can't believe how long this thread has gone...cant we all just read about it and have a good laugh? And perhaps have some platform bashing to follow (always seems to happen when MAC/PC arguments arise)

Yup.
There's a research thesis in there somewhere; investigating the blind loyalty or hatred some ppl have for certain brands of computers, operating systems, and video cards.

we're just sensative because we are so few when compared with windows users. Then windows users often bash macs without ever touching one besides in 5th grade. They often spread falacies about the platform and make the mac platform look like crap.
however, if you read more and more recent threads and articles about macs, you will realize they are much better than the "classic" OS days.

It's not just PC users bashing macs…it goes the other way too. (I don’t understand why so many ppl hate Bill Gates.)
It’s also not limited to Mac vs PC. Some people are so vehement about one video card being superior in every way to another; its kinda childish.

Well the truth of the matter is this... I love my Mac. My PC is my glorifed gaming machine.
If games would come out on the Mac more often with regularity, I'd never would have gotten a PC.

software is the only industry to my knowledge that allows a company to release a buggy product, and sell the customer the fix to try to stabilize it some. The fixes sold often come with more bugs that need to be fixed later.
If a car was sold with bugs in the security system or ignition system, on wouldnt expect to buy an upgrade to the car or whatever, they expect the manufacturer to fix it free of charge or do a recall on the product. I dont think i have ever heard of sofwatre being recalled.
anyways, my point being M$ products are often buggy with some being buggier than others. (95, 98, ME) I know its not just microsoft that does this, but they are a big portion of the companies that do it.
MS also integrates everything they can into their product or try to force you to buy a "plus" pack for it, even though it should be included. Personally i think its bull***** that you need to pay to get a DVD player with windows or MP3encoding capabilities. M$ is just trying to force its users to adopt their standards, not industry standards.
What cracks me up the most is windows users who complain about windows amongst themselves, but when they encounter somebody that can think for themselve and try something thats not windows, they praise windows like its a god. You would think they had a gun to their head by the way they glorify it. Hell, i was that way when I used windows and only windows. I cant een explain why i was that way now.
Oh well, so I cant play a large number of over priced games. I really dont care, thats what a console is for. Sure apple is getting more and more available games. Even if they are gaining more games, I will pobably never play 95% of them.

I think Unix/Linux is great but I don't know much about it thus I still stuck with Windows. I would love to switch to Mac but I build my own computer and parts are expensive!

pretty lame when you need to resort to stuff like that. but i guess i really shouldnt have expected much.
bitch all you want about who are in the "switch" ads, i dont care. They work, and they show people who do use a mac and prefer it. If it came down to celebs saying what platform they prefer, an overwhelming majority would say mac. Apple caters to their needs. its plain and simple.

they can only use a mac due to the lack of "pc operating" brain-cells, if u cant use a pc (cuz ur an idiot) u can use a mac (and suffer the consequences) :P

BTW... I don't see too many folks out here bashin' Apples until the Apple folks start in on their "spiel" about why they are better and such and why PC's aren't. People will buy what they want for whatever their reasons may be... and constantly "advertising" isn't really gonna sway all that many people. Obviously, the PC folks on here don't have to "sell" their preference... it's already the industry standard. :D Told it like it is. :)
