Now normally I have no need what so ever for a CD burner so I never got one for my computer. Now I'm in the mood for formatting my hard drive and I have no way to back up a few GBs of data. Being the poor college student I am, I only have one computer. Now, are there any stores who rent a CD RW drive?
I realize I can puchace one for 40 bucks but I am really cheap.

Are you on the schools Network or are you networked to any other computer?
If so then just copy your stuff over to another PC on the network EX a friends then copy it back to yours after your finished with your reinstall

Okay so you're cheap, but do you have any friends? I'm sure you know someone who might be able to let you borrow one. Any semi-respectable computer geek has at least one extra one sitting in the desk left over from the last upgrade.
Also, check with your school's computer lab. They might have a USB one you can check out (a long shot to be sure, but worth a try)
Still, I think you would be better off buying one. You can get them for as little as $30 or even less if you look throught the deals page.

Heh yeah ask a friend to back up the info for you. The cheapest people have the most friends :D.
If you wanna be REAAAAAAAAAAALLY cheap. Buy a Hard drive from best buy, transfer all your crap, format, transfer it all back, return hard drive.
comeon, you gotta have a friend that has one.
If not, be friends with a CS major.
