after reading all the threads posted about processors and converters and whatnot, i'm still not sure what a good deal for a mother board + pIII processor would be...

just wondering what kind of price range i would be looking at when i go out looking the next coupla days..

thanks.

also just wondering...

is there a big differnece between a slot 1 and a socket 370 ? if so, which one is better/faster ?

and what is a good deal for 128 mb 133 mhz SDRAM?

thanks

this really belongs in the hardware forum
but i'll try to answer briefly.
Socket cpu's are generally better and have the cache built onto the cpu"always better"
the slot ones DID have cache OFF cpu however i think the newer ones are much like the sockets merely built onto a Slot type chip.
if you are new to building and not going to overlock a 133 mhz bus cpu will do you fine.
if you are going to overclock i'd get a 600 or 700 that is 100Mhz bus speed as most people have had really good luck Oc'in them.
hope this helps there is a plethora of information on this subject on many sites www.tomshardware.com (http://www.tomshardware.com) anandtech.com overclockers.com take the time to read them it's enlightening....
