I got the gc of $5 amazon.com and I'm trying to use it for a total of 4.38 bucks...when I tried to apply the gc, it told me to check the # of it...why? do I have to use more than 5 bucks in order to use the gc? tx

You CAN buy anything in Amazon with GC no matter the price. If the GC value is more than the purchase value the remaining balance remains on your account as a "GC balance" and can be further applied provided you shop using your account. I have tried this personally so I'm sure what I said is true.
As for the GC code refusal pls verify the GC code wasn't used before and hasn't expired. You know, promo GCs expire in two weeks -- check the email with the GC you received.
