need help with a Counterstrike LAN

Can some one help me out I Downloaded the new 1.5CS and the new halflife patch and the HLDS file for a server but i cant figure out how to lan this sucker. any help would be great!!

and yea i checked counterstrike.net but it did not help
I got lost on the "config.cfg" part

If your just setting it up to lan with bunch of friends just network the whole thing....

Server to Hub
Hub to everyone elses comp...

Fix ips, etc. and just get on lan game..(self-check: ping each other to see if network is working)

If your trying to set up a server for net you have to dedicate it by pushing dedicate server on game creation in internet games...it will change to console format, you control it from there by command promts(that comp would be the sever as long as you leave it on, so don't turn off/run on the comp you will be playing on)

Not to hard, just stuff you can figure out in time :P Took me while to figure out how to get Warcraft 3 to work tho, then found out my network card was fryed :bigmouth:

p.s. if you are doing it for net, make sure to get Admin Mod, and HL guard, etc. to protect from pesky noobs..no i mean.. hackers.. yeah thats it...

okay, i'd like to ask about adminmod...i have a small server...but i wants adminmod on it. HOW THE HELL DO I GET IT TO WORK!?!?

i say that this guy is admin, yet he doesnt have admin powers...??? i cant set the admin ability to anyone, it just doesnt work~

First off, are YOU able to use admin commands and such.. Have you logged into the game with admin commands/abilities? Also, do the clients have the correct access levels in your users.ini file? Access Levels (http://www.adminmod.org/help/online/Admin_Mod_Reference/Access_Levels_and_Respective_Admin_Commands.htm)

Just to check.. The clients trying to access the "admin" commands are putting in both the server password and their passwords correct, and their username and/or won id are placed into your users.ini (won id is better for security)?

I.E.

Step 1. In the server.cfg file on your server, make sure you have this line: password_field "pw-home"

Step 2. In the users.ini file on your server, make sure you have this line: UserName:PassWord:#####

Step 3. And in your adminpass.cfg file on your CLIENT machine, make sure you have this line: setinfo "pw-home" "password"

Step 4. Create a shortcut on your desktop to the game you will be playing, or copy an existing shortcut. Edit the shortcut, and in the "Target" field, add the this text: +exec adminpass.cfg
(I have noticed, on my machine at least, which is windows 2000, when I create adminpass.cfg it actually is naming the file adminpass.cfg.cfg because of notepad. The best way I have found to bypass this problem is to take an already created .cfg file, put the wanted text into it, and do the "save as function" and just change the file name to adminpass and the .cfg will correctly be there)

Make sure your users don't use the autoexec.cfg to automatically put in their password and everything. If they are to go to another server with their passwords entered, bad system operators would have the server password and their password, leaving your server open to bad attacks.. has happened in the past =0)

I hope some of this at least helped.. If not, let me know exactly what is happening when people try to log in as admins, and I will try to troubleshoot it more.
