at the risk of making an ass out of myself (which i'm most likely doing).
has anyone ever noticed that theres dell system deals on the deals page every day?
it seems to me that these arent really deals and thats just how much stripped down dell systems cost.
doesn't really bother me or anything, i'm just wondering if i'm the only one that's thought about this.

long ago, i thought about it too... but then i realized, throw in one of them nifty coupons and BOOM, you've got a deal. :P
but seriously, G|A generates necessary revenue from those dell "deals"...amongst others. it's either this or, *gasp* pop-up ads. :)

there was a long post with people complaining about the percent of dell deals on the deals page. Some people didnt like it others didnt care.
To me a dell really isnt a deal, but the periph coupons are, so i can live with it.
I really hate dell. Especially how they use non atx powersupplies and things of that nature. You cant upgrade most of their cases (i have never seen on in the past 4 or so years that can take a standard atx board & ps), and their hardware is not the highest of quality in my opinion.
We recently upgraded all of our windows boxes (350 or so) to dell p4 2.0GHz systems. they were smart enough to route the audio cable around the heatsink with no slack in it. The heat sink gets hot as hell since our systems are on 24-7. I am just waiting for the shielding to melt.

DUDE! YOU'RE GETTING A DELL!!!!
:P
anyways, they do get kinda annoying, cause they're just annoying.
but I gotta admit, I took advantage of the celery server a few weeks back.
really tempted to buy one of those notebooks, but stopped myself and got in on that hp notebook deal.
also really tempted to buy one of the systems yesterday with free lcd....and you know what, if apex didn't post that, I would've never know that they were throwing in a free lcd.....
so, go apex, go apex, go apex...
eh, I guess in the end, like cornmonkey said...they'd stop if people stopped buying through the dell links...but I guess they're raking in enough dough through those "dell deals" that it's worthwhile to keep on posting them.

yeah even if it is just to generate money to keep the site running its totally cool with me and i'm sure anyone else who visits the site.
i know i definately save enough money from this site to sort through a couple dell things.
i just think its kinda funny when a: you see them every day and b: you see the words "HOT DEAL" placed with a $1200 laptop.

now that i've given it a little more thought i guess i see how it most likely is useful for a bunch of people.
i think the same kinda thing could be said about the dell monitor deals that are posted but i know when its time for a new monitor thats where i'm gonna be looking.
I think Apex should rename the "Deals" page to the "Dells" page.

The free upgrade to an 15" LCD is great. C'mon...by itself that 15" LCD monitor is like $250-300. It's great for the average user and light/casual gaming. I agree I take the "Hot Deals" with a grain of salt but peripherals are a good deal.

Keep in mind all, that just because it is it is expensive still doesn't mean it isn't a hot deal...
Got|Apex? wouldn't post those things if people weren't buying them. Ya know?
Not everyone who buys from the deals page comes onto the forums. If suddenly no one was ever buying those computers or sound systems or monitors or whatever (to name a few), then they wouldn't post them. They just happen to be out there (unfortunately the days with REALLY hot deals that are cheap enough for even the average user are gone). So....
:)

Totally. It's not like you b*tchers and moaners are paying for their bandwidth and operational costs.
