im in the same boat.

i really want a new card but the 128s arent coming down fast enuff.

Than i look at the 4400 than 4600 and than 9700.....
i really dont need all that much of card(no one does).

the 128 4200 is perfect cuz i'll be able to oc it to 4400/4600 speeds unless i get a gimp card.

Wasting time thinking this over...... Time for a new card.

What and where? How much? :splat:

too much thinking, need sleep...

I just got my Radeon 9700 Pro yesterday... I ordered the Sapphire 9700 Pro from NewEgg after reading that most of the "powered by ATI" card manufacturers (like Sapphire), were still shipping the last of the ATI-built cards they were originally supplied with. Luckily, when I opened the package, the card was indeed an ATI card (which I verified by checking the bios P/N against ATI's website).

Wow what a card! A game that I was previously getting framerates of around 57fps with(on my Gainward GF3Ti450), now runs at 150fps, with all the eye candy turned on. Now, I feel like my CPU (AXP 1800+, running at XP2000+) is my limiting factor. That and the fact that my MB is 4X and not 8X AGP. One of the main reasons I upgraded was because someone made me a good offer on my old vid card, and I just finished building a brand new system for him last night, so I had to place an order to NewEgg anyhow... Funny how these little projects always end up costing me money...

i have an Albatron 4200, set on 4x AGP on a p4 2.4, 512 ddr 2700 (333mHz). everything from Max Payne to UT2k3 to WC3 plays really well with all eye candy turned on and res set to 1024x768. i dunno, if my 4200 is the turbo, i just know it has the dvi and TV out. and with the detonator 40 driver, i busted 10k+ on the 3dMark bench (no OC'ing)
