No sh*t right. Omg...I was just out last night too. They need to catch that guy fast. I feel bad if the pizza delivery will get shot now.

I need to go to a surplus and see if they have kevlar or something.

Yeah... I was filling my car about an hour before the guy got shot. Manassas, VA is about 10-15 minutes away so it gets kinda scary.

yup, down to a quarter tank, trying to figure out when to fill up...prolly at like 3 in the morning, cause it seems most of the shootings were during the day...but then at 3 in the morning, there's plenty of other stray bullets flying around in baltimore that I dunno if it's safer! :(

or maybe if i go during the day, I can just jump around and strafe, a la counterstrike :P

Just fill up at a gas station that has a large roof and no tall structures or hills nearby. If there is no way that he can see you, he cant shoot you. Either that or now is a real good time for a roadtrip.

Cops Probe New Gas Station Shooting

Friday, October 11, 2002

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — There has been a shooting at an Exxon station here, and police have cordoned off the area.

Police are stopping cars along adjacent Interstate 95.

A white Chevrolet Astro van was seen taking off from the scene, a witness told Fox News,

Fredericksburg was the scene of the seventh shooting in a series of nine tied to a sniper who has been terrorizing the Washington, D.C., area.

The sniper has killed seven people and wounded two others since Oct. 7.

They are looking for two types of people. Gamers or ex military snipers.

I don't see where someone who has ONLY played FPS games or what have you can go from the game and pick up a gun and be this accurate. From my experience (limited), shooting a real gun is totally different than UT or CC. Am I alone?

Meanwhile, go to SC or to NY to get gas. He just shot number 10

D*MMIT...I need to get gas. He might be military but I wouldn't rule out gamer who practices at a shooting range. They do advertise shooting ranges on cable over here btw. I dunno...this psycho could have a good aim with a tripod if that's what his gun is compatible with. He's just all over the area now. I think those geographical profilers are making him increase his target area. They closed the major north-south hwy so I hope they catch the bastard!!

they are pretty sure it is a white van so i would say, unless he changes vehicles, that it is a matter of time. hopefully, not much time.

I'm not familiar with the area, but I just can't believe that nobody has seen someone crouch with a rifle and take aim in broad daylight. Where does he hide? The guy shoots once and never misses.

Some of us here in VA think he's shooting from his car or van and then driving off. So, there could be two people doing this, one to drive and one to snipe.

got this from my company security people:

Police are asking members of the community to report information that may assist in identifying the sniper who has shot several people in the Maryland, Washington, DC and Northern Virginia area.

The public should be on the outlook for an Isuzu box truck with a sloped front. The truck is white with tandem rear wheels, a bar bumper in the back with damage to the passenger side rear bumper. Additionally the public is asked to report anyone acting suspicious. Information that a person may consider to be insignificant, may actually be crucial to the police.

Please distribute this information to all employees, including employees working in the field. Employees should call the Suspect Information Tip Line at 1-888-324-9800 with any information.

i dunno, but if they know the police know they're driving a white isuzu....wouldn't they just find a new car?

I thought though at the "Tarot Card" site that they found matted foilage, as if he was outside of the van?

But yeah, it would be much easier to conceal in daylight if he was inside a vehicle.

Yeah it was. This is all speculation you know. All I know is I'm starting to use some of my gaming skills to look for the spots a sniper might be at to protect myself.

In any case, it doesn't make life very fun right now.

those who live there do have to be aware of their surroundings more than ever. i've heard that at gas stations people are putting the gaspump on automatic and getting back into their car until it is done.
good idea.

that's not actually a smart thing. almost every instance of an electrical discharge while fueling has been linked with starting the pump and getting back in the car.

I'd say full service, make some other sucker get shot.

Now granted, in UT gettin' a "head shot" is cool and all, but this just ain't. If they ever catch the bastid, he needs to be reap what he has sown.

yeah...key word being "UNREAL" tournament.

i would say your chances of dying from the sniper's shot here versus dying from your car blowing up are different in this instance. meaning the sniper showing up is far greater of a chance.
you do shut your car off when putting gas in it, right?

full service stations must be getting swamped.

just a bit of speculation here, but...

sounds to me like the shooter is enjoying the shooting.. it seems to be a game to him. Shoot as many people randomly (or not randomly?) in broad daylight, making it a bit harder for himself, showing off his skill as a sniper, and doing it untill the cops start to catch up to him... The tarot car (if indeed his) may be his way of "helping" the cops stay on his track, making it that much more exciting for himself.

i would imagine he/she'll keep shooting untill the cops make an arrest, or they stop looking (which wont happen). The attention the media is providing is also part of what this person is thriving on.

i heard (is it true) that the latest shooting was VERY near a hypo workin an accident or something... sounds to me like he's becoming more and more dareing.

Yes, probably shooting from the vehicle, or from under or around teh vehicle, from a hidden area or something. OR, if in conjunction with another person, then i would venture to guess that the "white van" leaving the scenes is a decoy, near, but not cl ose to teh point of fire, and is distractig any on-lookers while the actual shooter slips away in another vehicle.

Yeah, I'd say the chances are better right now of someone getting shot than of the car blowing up. :(

Please be careful all of you in that area!

There's a lot of wooded areas or places he can hide in this area believe it or not. Sigh...what a crappy 3 day weekend its going to be. For all my fellow DC Metro Got|Apexers, be careful and remember to bob and weave. Try to compress ur trips but not burden yourself immense of amounts of stuff that slow you down.

Sigh. Talk to everyone next Tuesday.

What you have to remember is that depending on the gun, the bullet, the wind, the terrain, and the shooter, its possible that the person is far away from the actual injury site.

I think this is probably going to turn out to be a crazy anti-government type rather than Foreign Terrorist related. I could be wrong, but it just seems to be more just a crazy person than terrorism in the traditional sense.
