My friends are starting up a fantasy basketball league, and they want me to join. I don't follow the game that much anymore, so I'm not really confident in the choices that I'd make. I just need some suggestions for different players in certain positions, but I'd prefer if you guys could explain why you would choose a certain player. Thanks.
<edit> Oh yeah, and I just thought I'd mention... I prefer underdogs. :D

Yeah, I don't care for the B-ball as much - depends on how your league is set up for scoring.
Draft Shaq if you have the #1 pick...after that you want to balance your lineup with players that will not only score, but add assists/rebounds etc...
Off the top of my head...
C - Shaq, Ben Wallace, Jermaine O'neal, Mutumbo (iffy)
F - Webber, Nowitztki, Stojakovic, Garnett, Abdur-Rahim, Marion
G - Pierce, McGrady, Iverson, Kidd, Francis, Andre Miller
I'm sure I'm missing a bunch

well, i ain't done but one fantasy league in my lifetime, but i know that guys who do well in more than one category are quite valuable. like tim duncan and jason kidd...

Thanks guys... I'm trying to be semi-competitive in this, because there is a small amount of money at stake... but, if I lose, it is no biggy, because they are all friends of mine.
Anyway, thanks for the advice about guys who do well in most categories. Besides Shaq and Mutumbo, are there any other good Centers in the NBA? :heh:

check the sporting news website. they have some features that you have to pay for, but i know they run a regular column that ranks a lot of the top players at each position, and yahoo always carries it, so i assume it's free.
of course, i always follow their advice and i do really bad in my fantasy leagues
