i don't know how much to recommend for n00bz at building comps to pick up the maximum pc mag on how to build a pc, came out 4 or so months ago but should be available. Heck I think the article is available online on their site. /me tries to find it. . .

well I just went to yahoo and searched for "building a computer guide" and it came up with lots of stuff.
Here is one for example: http://www.daileyint.com/build/
The actualy physical building is pretty easy, but the hard part is when problems arise. Then you have to troubleshoot it.. woo hoo.

How bout......
Step 1:go to dell
Step 2:order computer as seen on deals page
Step 3:wait for order
Step 4:open box
Step 5:plug it in
Step 6:new computer :P

This is in case your building a system to save money. You can't build a equal system for the same amount of money.

If you just want to learn how to build systems, I'd start by taking out hardware or adding hw to an existing system. Once you figure out how the pieces go back and how to add the drivers your halfway there.

From scratch, adding the cpu/cooler to the mobo is easy but you should be careful to seat it right and use the right amount of thermal grease. Placing the mobo in the case is easy and to power it there are plugs that snap in. Besides the cooler, the only semi difficult thing is to connect all those little wires from the front bezel to the mobo(power etc.)
Software/drivers is another matter........ but you,ll figure it out. :)

Good luck,

make sure you seat the HSF properly!!!

After installing countless CPUs without a problem, I finally goofed and fried a 2200+MP...:cry2:

of course, in my defense, it was a stupid non-standard retention system:D
