A Krispy Kreme has just opened up here in CT just this 8th of October! Whoo-Hoo FINALLY! Krispy Kreme are by FAR thee best pastry I have ever had. I haven't had one for about a year now so natuarly I goto the unveiling... Well... That attempt on the 8th was a no go. The traffic was unreal.

So today I go for a second try... This time police are directing traffic, the line is again outside and the drive though has no end in site. I did see a lady with three dozen though, I was very tempted to make an offer, but traffic prohibited.

mmmmm...doughnuts...

this monkey loves his krispy kreme glazed doughnuts. good thing the hype died down a while ago here in so.cal...

what is so good about these donuts to make ppl line up like that?
do they cook 'em in a special grease? :P
maybe some bacon fat or somethin?

what the hell is the big attraction with krispy kremes..I think they are gross and greasy tasting-like Dunkin Donuts.

Yeah... A prime example of the crap is when I posted that link to the company that sells deep fried twinkies at 475 calories a pop... Wait a minute, that's in CANADA! At any rate, they do sell that crap here in addition to deep fried Snickers bars. If that ain't eating crap, I don't know what is.

and i don't think they taste like dunkin donuts. those are just plain nasty. don't taste fresh at all.

Is this mostly an east coast thing? Here in Phoenix, I honestly can not even think where a donut shop is - none in my area I can think of.

I did visit Boston and New England this summer, and you couldn't spit w/o hitting a donut shop. :shrug:

Well, if you see the "assembly line" when they make the doughnuts, all of them pass through a SHEET of frosting, like the frosting is like a waterfall and the doughnuts go through it. They might flip them and send them through again, but I don't know.

The funny thing is that the chocolate doughnuts are frosted first, THEN coated with chocolate.

Basically Krispy Kreme is sugar heaven...mmm

Btw dunkin' donuts is good when they're fresh. mmm....

There is a Krispy Kreme approx 5 minutes from my house in CA. I know of atleast5 in our immediate area, I just think it has something to do with the police officer-to-dounut shop raiot :heh:

not really a krispy kreme fan myself. i've had 'em hot and don't know what the attraction is. :shrug:

We have 2 of them here in Sacramento.. and I still have yet to go to one.. heh.. I've had probably 2 Krispy Kreme doughnuts in my life.. uhh.. deep fried bread with sugar.. what's so appealing about that.. They should just roll some lard in sugar and deep fry that.. you might get about the same nutritional content..

Deep fried ice cream.. now that's the way to go!
