umm... i haven't really had a use for any of my usb ports until now, and i'm discovering that they don't work.
i have a shuttle ak35gt2 mobo running winXP pro.
actually, my epson usb printer does work correctly, but my usb memory stick reader and my sony clie cradle does not.. as well as my mp3 player. this is for all ports, front and back. when i stick any of those devices in, it detects that something is plugged in, but reports it as "USB Device Not Recognized" and goes on to accuse the devices as being faulty.. which isn't true since i can use all of them on the computer downstairs.
so i'm not really sure what the problem is, but any suggestions would be greatfully appreciated.

check the bios for the USB enable/disable option. some boards disable it for performance optimizations and older boards had it shutoff in some cases

make sure you have the right drivers installed. i know that sony has been rather slow on the xp drivers and some of thier products that were developed before intel released the p4 wont work either on a p4 system. i know my ms reader doesnt work on xp, but the last time i was at BB i saw the same reader with a "works with xp" label on it. so i checked out sonys page and i couldnt find any drivers for xp, only notes that said it wont work with it

i have usb enabled on my mobo bios. it's not only sony products that arenr't working. the same MS reader will work on the computer downstairs, runing winxp... no additional drivers needed. again the strangest thing is that my espson printer will work, but nothign else will.
anythign i'm missing?

Are the cables that between the USB ports and the motherboard connected correctly? Do you have more than one set of USB ports?
On one of my computers I added USB ports that are located in a drive bay. I connected the cables backwards on the motherboard. I figured something was wrong when nothing would work plugged into those USB ports, but would work with the original USB ports. I had to look at the motherboard documentation for the pinout on the connectors.
