I think this type of question depends person to person.

Do you want USB?
Do you want FireWire?
Do you want OnBoard Raid?
Do you want alot of PCI slots?
-Does it have to fit a specific size case?
Are you looking for any specific kind of ram to go inside that you might already have?

Of course... currently my PC can handle up to 4, which is plenty for me.

No plans for this.

Nah, my current PC does have RAID but I've yet to use it. Nor planning on using it.

I really only need 3. Sound, Network and Vid Capture. Since the vid card will be plugged into the AGP slot anyway.

The case will be decided on after the mobo has been selected, so it's not really an issue.

Nope, gonna get new ram for the new mobo.....so anything is game.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

With your budget I would go with one of those. I personally like the second better because I never had any good luck with SiS. The second also has on board expansion for more USB. I do not think that the first does.
