View Full Version : so i went to see Garbage open for No Doubt- ill be careful next time...
ahh yeah..
that same exact thing happened when I went to the Pop Disaster Tour (Jimmy Eat World, Green Day, Blink 182)
I couldn't go too far up front because of a new tattoo, so I stayed closer to the middle on the floor. Little girls screaming their little heads off, in almost, a competetive manner. That was the only time I've ever been glad for a crowd surfer.
Now, when I went to the Sex Pistols last show (like a month ago, out here) it was the first time, in a really long time, where I just could not identify one major age group. There was soo many different aged people. It was nice.
anyways, I know what your saying. get off the floor if your not ready to hurt anyone, that's basically my motto.
These young kids today just don't know how to headbang like us old farts. http://sbp777.homestead.com/files/wink2.gif

You went to Pop Disaster too? Geez I thought I was the only old guy there. I hadn't seen Green Day since Lollapalooza back in 1995, and I wanted to see Blink 182 again (since KROQ's Accoustic Christmas) so my wife and I went to see them and damn did I feel old!

i've never been to a REAL concert...
been to a few little ones from a local band (co-worker's wife's brothers band) but nothing big...
i wouldnt like going by myself... well, not the first time at least.
i wanted to go to Paul Mcartney concert... (too expensive) and to several others like 3 dog night or something but i didnt get aroudn to it.
Back when i had longer hair i would headbang on roadtrips with the music CRANKED and the windows down.... people thought i was nuts.

I remember going to a Kool and the Gang concert around 1982. Just breathing anywhere near the stage would've gotten you high.

yeah, how unlucky of me, I've been a fan of Blink 182 since Chesire Cat and I remember seeing them down in the SD area... now I just look like a little poser kid
I bet you felt old, hell I felt old, and I was only 22 at the time.
What I'm noticeing is that these big rock-type festival shows are always over populated with whiney little kiddies who don't know proper etiquette in anything. Moshing. Floor Procedure. NOT FREAKING CROWD SURFING!

I almost went to Pop disaster because it was like 5 minutes from my house but I heard that Blink sucks live and I couldnt get any of my friends to go so I bailed on the idea.
Also you old guys need to know: moshing is out. Its considered "gay" by most young people.

Then the young people are ass-clowns. Oh well, I can still get my share of moshing fromrock concerts :D
Man, I was severly disapointed when i went and saw bad religion when they toured with blink. bad religion was great as I expected, and blink was much much worse than i had expected. Blink was just playing for their 12 year old fans. it was disgusting. what was even more disgusting was the fact 100% of all the girls were blocking me from the merch stand preventing me from getting my bad religion sh*t. guess what they were all buying, blink 182 thongs. :puke: I almost yelled, "STOP BUYING THAT SH*T, YOUR NOT OLD ENOUGH!"
oh well, my favorite thing about that one was when me and my friends decided to do all the normal moshpit stuff. all the kiddies had a scared expression on their face, it was great.

MOSHING - Moshing started, it's thought, at punk gigs during the 18th century, where a primative form of body slamming became popular at gigs and has evolved to the artistic stature that it is today. However recent archeological finds suggest that moshing actually existed during stone age times. The authenticity of these finds has been since questioned.
now that thats said... yea... the only "real band" concert i went to was the Summer Sanitarium Tour back i dont knwo when with MetallicA, KoRn, System of a Down, Kid Rock and Powerman 5000. man... there were so many boobies everywhere and beer tossing its not even funny... but when the music wasnt playing, there were boobies everywhere and streaking... in fact this one chick in front of me asked if she could sit on my lap for a while and later she turned around and flashed my friend and i... aww the memories... and the music kicked... :D

Did you just associate good music with such acts as Kid Rock and Powerman 5000? Slow down buddy.

kid rock was great... he had two go-go dancers at all times on the stage... so I didn't see him :D
And no, kid rock sucked. Powerman 5000 sucked. System was almost ruined for me because of two idiotic fans next to me, but that's a different story.

If moshing is out, why is it at every concert I go to, the younger ones are moshing? Now of course I note that they aren't moshing very well, but they think they are. What I hate about the new "mosh pits" is they have no beat to it. The point of a mosh pit is to at least mosh to the beat of the song, right? The last real concert I went to was an Aquabats concert, and several punk bands opened for them, and people were moshing like crazy, but they were doing it super fast during a regular beated song...I was so annoyed. They just wanted to kill each other it seemed.
Another note: IF I CAN MOSH (I'm 5'1") THIS STUPID TEENY BOPPERS CAN TOO!

"1) people dont know how to rock anymore."
Thats what metal is for my friend! You have your screamers, Death Metal. Gothics, Black metal. Big white boys, power metal. Germans, thrash metal. You got your good ol american, heavy metal. Then you have the good stuff, melodic metal...
That good for you?
edit: oh yea, linkin park and all that stuff ISNT METAL! just to set it straight for everyone :D sick of all the music newbies
