Alright...as ya'll know, I got a new vid card. GF4 Albatron ti4200. I have been trying to run 3dmark on it and I can't get it to run. It goes to around the middle of the first test and then it crashes onto the desktop. Any ideas why?

Win XP
T-bird 1.2
Iwill kk266
Det. 40.72 drivers
300W PS

Are you getting artifacts, any funny lines or spots? Is your card overclocked? You probably have to slow the card down.

When that happens to me, I lower the core or the ram or both til I can complete the test. I stress test it to see if it will run it clean for 10+ times in a loop.

If it's still at factory settings than you have a bad card or your case is way too hot or............ (?)
You can add fans, reinstall windows and try to check everything but I'm pretty sure the card is clocked too high.

I have everything at stock settings....

But....I just looked at my PS...and though it is a 300W PS, it says the max it pumps out is 160W. So....I'm going to get a new PS and I'm pretty sure that this will solve the problem.

I asked a friend of mine and he said that once he changed his PS, his problems went away.

No, that sounds about right. No one makes a 300watt power supply that puts out 300 constant watts. It's just one of those...things. Not saying the PS isn't the problem, just saying that 160 doesn't sound wrong.

I'd look into getting an Antec True Power or here is a nice solid ps:

Alright...first off, here are the specs that are important:

Iwill KK266
1.2 T-bird
512 MB SDRAM
430W Antec True Power Supply
Win XP Home
Det 40.72 Drivers
Netgear FA311

Settings:
AGP Driving Strength - EB (Also tried it at EA....still a no go red leader)
AGP - Doesn't matter if it's 2x or 4x....does the same thing.
FWs are off
Someone suggested that I turn off sidebanding...don't know where that is...could someone please help me with that.

In Dxdiag:
DirectDraw Acceleration - Enabled
Direct3d Acceleration - Enabled
AGP Texture Acceleration - Enabled

Here are the symptoms:
Try to run 3dmark - crash to desktop or reboot
Try to America's Army - Reboot
Try to Run Duke Nukem: Mahatten Project - crash to desktop

I have tried all these many, MANY times...and it's the same all the time.

LMK if you need more info...I will gladly provide it.

They sold you a bad card. Email for a RMA. Remember just cuz they used the 8 layer pcb doesnt mean the cpu they used and the ram is able to run at 4600 speeds. Its basically a pretweaked card and who knows how they test those things at albatron.
I'm thinking of returning my 4600 and getting a 9700pro. The performance wasnt as great as I expected. I emailed NewEgg and they told me to respond to theirs to get an RMA.
good luck

Yup..sounds like a bad card.. Maybe a bad memory module within the card.

I have a question for you though.. I have a ka266 (iwill) how do you changed the AGP 2x/4x speed?? I lost the manual and the online manual didn't seem to tell me much... I'm assuming we have basically the same mobo, so I thought I'd ask.. oh and also, I'm assuming you d/l'd the agp drivers from ali???

I have the KK266 which is a VIA chipset and yes I did download the 4in1 drivers.

But, if your BIOS is also AWARD, then the AGP setting should be in the Advanced chipset menu.

Will it say AGP speed?? I believe there is AGP aperture (which I have set to 128) and AGP something else (but the settings go all the way to 9, so I don't think that is the setting)

It should be right under the AGP aperture size settings...at least that's where it is on mine.

AGP Data Transfer Rate I'm pretty sure it what it should be.
