is there a way to have one comp set up a game, and have other computers connect to it (like through tcp/ip), and not having to go through b.net?

i dunno bout straight through TCP/IP... but you could probably try and look into setting up an FSGS server.. it'd act as though u're connecting to battle.net, but instead, you and your friends log into your own server.

Believe there is...forgot how to tho. Well then again, maybe not. I will look into it for you. I remember on starcraft there are a bunch of different settings you can use, dial up via modem to modem etc. I wil look when i get back...
There is a program called Lancraft for this. One computer hosts and gives his IP to everyone who is going to play. The other people start up LANCraft and plug in the hosts ip. HOST starts up a game through "Local Area Network" then the other people join as if it was a LAN game. You can find it at www.gamecopyworld.com i'm sure.
